‘Doctor
Who’ to
Begin Filming
New Season,
Writers
Confirmed

Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill in 'The God Complex'

Big news is rolling out on the upcoming season of Doctor Who: shooting will commence on February 20, BBC’s Doctor Who website has announced. The first director will be Saul Metzstein (Upstairs Downstairs), with executive producer and lead writer Steven Moffat joining new EP Caroline Skinner and producer Marcus Wilson on the production team.

The show will also be getting some new digs: the new series will be produced at the BBC Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff, set to officially open in March.

Writers for the new season have been confirmed. Toby Whithouse — the brains behind the original UK Being Human and the well-received Who episodes “School Reunion,” “The Vampires of Venice,” and “The God Complex” — will contribute once again. Meanwhile, Torchwood writer Chris Chibnall will also join this year’s writing team. He has previously written the episodes “42″ and the two parter “The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood.”

The new season of Who will be a momentous one: as we know, Karen Gillan (Amy) and Arthur Darvill (Rory) are set to make their final voyage in the TARDIS this season, and the Doctor (Matt Smith) is set to meet a “new friend.” And with the 50th anniversary looming in 2013, there are sure to be many surprises to come.

What are you most looking forward to in the new season?

As said in another comment for donna to somehow get her memory back and get the 10th doctor back in…even if it has to be the one who is with rose. I can dream…

I HAVE BEEN WATCHING DR WHO LONG ON ABOUT 50 OR SO YEARS; WHEN I COULD CATCH IT. BUT THE LAST 3 OR 4 SEASONS SUCK. THOSE TWO B—— HAVE TOTALLY RUIN THE SHOW. I HOPE TO HELL THAT THEY KILL THEM OFF COMPLETELY & BRING SOME LOGIC BACK TO THE SHOW. I THOUGHT THE NAME OF THEW SHOW WAS “DR WHO: NOT “WHINY CRYING S—S , INC”. IF THEY CONTINUE WITH THIS WAY OF THE SHOW THEN IT WILL GO DOWN THE DRAIN LIKE THE OLD ONE. WHEN OTHER PEOPLE ON THE SHOW BECOME MORE IMPORTANT THEN ” THE DR ” THEN YOU MIGHT AS WELL GIVE THE SHOW TO THE TRASH HEAP.. I WILL NOT WATCH THE TOTAL WASTE OF A SHOW IF IT CONTINUES LIKE THIS LAST SEASONS.

I just wish BBC-A would recognize that shifting times on Dr Who every few weeks means losing viewers and antagonizing the ones not lost. I am not pleased to turn on BBC-A ast a time when the Dr was airing and see junk like top gear.
And if we are running repeats, why just the last three doctors? I’ld love to see Pertwee or McCoy or one of the Bakers that have not aired in years rather than something I saw in the last few months

My personal choice for a 50th Anniversary would be, besides a multi story arc of the 8th and the Time War before regeneration, would be if the show had the proper ending to River with the Doctor saying goodbye, handing her his screwdriver, and crying.. but then an idea. Then we see he went back to the library and we watch the end of that episode where she sacrifices herself and 10 saves her to the harddrive. You’ll think it’s just a flashback giving homage to her character.. but then a new scene and after 10 snaps his fingers and walks into the TARDIS the 11th Doctor is standing in there. Tennant could smile, knowing. A quick exchange and 10 says something like “is she worth it all? dying so I become you?” 11 says like “spoilers” or some short but sweet line and rushes off to save her. I don’t know.

I would love to see old companions come back, like Jenny and Christina. Especially Christina, she should have been brought into the 11th doctor’s series. A resolution with Donna’s memory would be good thing to wrap up also.

On pins and needles waiting for the new Dr. Who season. I do not think the end of the Ponds are forthcoming. They will just be set aside while THE Dr. goes out on his own for awhile. After all, he does love their daughter and at one time they were supposed to be married. So, the Ponds will not be gone long. Dr. Who will find new adventures and see old ones once again in the new seasons. Just remember He never leaves his friends forever! When is the Season going to start?

It would be nice you made your own Theme but the idea is ok, you should have focused on different companies not only BlueHost.

Know what steam punk (of course you do!) Well there is this performer called Professor Elemental…he’s a steampunk rapper. You may think weird, but it works. And, after all, isn’t steam punk a “creative anachronism”? I think the character Professor Elemental has some potential as a (the) subject of an episode. Perhaps…a music “professor” extracted from his own time? Anyone out there have Moffat’s ear? Let him know would’ya? And get those new episodes rolling…I am way past ready!
