Today is the International Day for Monuments and Sites (also known as World Heritage Day) that was established by UNESCO in 1982. To celebrate, we are highlighting this monument to Chief Francis Pegahmagabow located in Parry Sound, Ontario. The monument was commissioned by the Ontario Native Education Counselling Association and sculpted by Tyler Fauvelle. Chief Pegahmagabow was Canada’s most decorated Indigenous soldier.
