Pick your location wisely

Where you go is just as important a technique as talking to them. The well-seasoned traveler will know that there are good places for a Player to vacation, and then there are some not-so-good places.

From personal experience, cruise ships are generally not a great place to meet adventurous ladies, unless the cruise is branded as such. Often times you’ll find that these types of vacations cater to easy travelers who want the comforts of their home, so you’ll be hard-pressed to find those party-hardy women. Conversely, social hot spots such as Cancun, Ibiza or Thailand are a great place to visit, simply because they’ve been marketed as escapes from reality at a reasonable price. Language barriers and cultural norms are also either a curse or a blessing in disguise, so do your research beforehand and go where your game works best — this is the key to knowing how to score on vacation.

Dress for the occasion

Remember that guy who sat at the poolside bar the last time you went on vacation? He was that over-tanned, sweaty man-beast wearing his unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt and tight khaki shorts glazed in a bucket of sweat. Blech!

The standard rule for proper vacation wear is simple: Don’t wear what won’t get you the pickup. And believe me, this is a lot easier than it looks.

Yes, I know, you’re on vacation and just want to be comfortable. You should still wear weather-appropriate clothes that fit well, but don’t reveal too much (especially on the beach) and try to complement the style you wear at home. Sandals and shorts are appropriate during the day, but dress shoes and jeans with a collared shirt are still the norm for nightwear. A snappy pair of sunglasses will also help downplay that sunburn on your face.

Try new pickup techniques

The nice thing about picking up women while on vacation is that the usual techniques you use at home may have more success in a different location. Women and people in general respond differently to cultural forms of romance, comedy and socializing, and are especially true the further you veer from the nest.

Some cultures prefer people to be more upfront and straight to the point; others like more traditional methods of romantic pursuits. For example, if you’re an outgoing and boisterous socialite, you might find more success on the beaches of Australia than on the streets of Japan (unless, of course, you’re gracing the karaoke bars with your over-the-top singing voice). Have some fun with this, and try an approach you may not be able to get away with at home. Not only might you improve your chances locally, but you’ll also bring back some new skills and improve your confidence with your hometown crowd.

Vacations are not a time to put in any serious effort; you packed your bags to kick back and relax, and that’s exactly what good pickup skills require when you arrive at your destination. If you want to know how to score on vacation, remember: Keep things simple, don’t expect too much and definitely leave your inhibitions at home. As a Player, the one thing you can’t forget to bring is your game; the thrill and excitement of meeting different women with a foreign spice is more than enough reason to hop on a plane for an escape into uncharted waters.
