Calling all American Idol fans: The best part of the show, a.k.a. when you get to have a say in which contestant wins this season, has finally arrived. Here's everything you need to know about casting votes for your favorite American Idol contestants.

When to Vote During American Idol

The first round of public American Idol voting begins on Sunday, April 14, when fans will help choose which 10 contestants move on to the live shows the following week. This round of voting opens when the show begins at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, and closes the following day, Monday, April 15, at 9 a.m. ET.

During the live shows, however, voting will be a little different: On each Sunday from April 21 to May 12, voting will open at the start of the show at 8 p.m. ET and will close during the show's final commercial break. Then, when the finale airs on May 20, there will be one last round of votes to determine the show's winner.

How to Vote for Your American Idol Favorites

Each week when voting opens, American Idol fans will have the ability to vote in three different ways: online, in the American Idol app, or via text. But you don't have to limit yourself to just one — fans have the option to cast up to 10 votes via any given voting method, which means you'll get a total of up to 30 votes each week. Just be sure to note that you need to be at least 13 years old, in the U.S. or Puerto Rico, and logged in to an ABC.com account to be able to vote online or in the app.
