Penn Cosmetic Surgery

Woman receiving microneedling treatment

Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling is one of the newest, most effective approaches to rejuvenate the skin, improving texture and firmness. The treatment works by creating tiny punctures in the top skin layer. These micro-needles trigger your body to create new collagen and elastin in order to heal.

It’s an ideal approach for treating:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet
  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Stretch marks
  • Acne scars

Another bonus: Microneedling can be done all over the body, not just the face. Use it to treat arms, legs, neck, abdomen, back and hands. Your aesthetician will customize the treatment to your goals.

The Penn Experience

What to expect during microneedling

During your microneedling treatment, one of our expert aestheticians starts by applying an anesthetic cream to your skin, to ensure your comfort during treatment. They may also use a light layer of water to lubricate your skin as they roll a handheld device covered in tiny needles over your target area. They will match the depth of the needles to the specific goals of your treatment, whether you want to eliminate sun damage or reduce acne scars.

The entire process lasts about 30 minutes, depending on the area you’re targeting. Afterward, you may experience skin redness, which will fade over the following days. Most patients require four to eight treatments, each spaced a month apart, depending on their target area and goals.

Microneedling cost

Microneedling costs vary based on your specific treatment goals and other services you may also undergo. Your surgeon will discuss the cost of microneedling with you during your consultation, and our team is always available to help establish a microneedling payment plan that works for you.

Microneedling risks

Risks from microneedling treatment are minor. However, some people may experience allergic reactions from follow-up skin care or infection. Your aesthetician will take steps to educate you on the best follow-up care treatments to ensure this doesn’t happen. They will also will discuss any risks specific to you prior to your procedure.
