The Ultimate Guide To A Las Vegas Theme Event

Las Vegas is sometimes called the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’ and it’s for good reason as every inch of its famous Las Vegas Strip is filled with dazzling lights, glamorous landmarks, and world-class casinos and restaurants.

A Las Vegas theme event is like a casino night taken to its extremes: where guests are allowed to become high-rollers and revel in the opulent atmosphere you’ve created.

Mastering the Las Vegas theme with all of its excess and unique charm can be difficult, so we’ve created this guide to talk you through the best options for decorations, lighting, and recreating the Las Vegas spirit at your venue.

Getting Started With A Vegas Theme Night

A Las Vegas theme is always popular with organisers and guests. It allows everyone to dress up without needing to put-on-airs and they can enjoy an evening of casino games while surrounded by the lights, colours, and icons of Las Vegas.

It’s often used for birthday parties, balls, school discos, and end of year parties, but it can also be used well at product launches and conferences where you want to keep guests entertained throughout the night.

Part of its appeal is that it can naturally be paired with games such as blackjack and roulette, while also working well with buffets and a wide variety of entertainment acts.

Most venues are very accommodating for a Las Vegas theme, whether it’s a baroque ballroom or a plainly-decorated hotel reception. Typically you will want some clear floor space for dancing and casino games – as well as a well-stocked bar.

Pool halls, American-style bars, and art deco hotels mesh particularly well with this theme.

Decorations And Design

One of the big advantages of the Las Vegas theme is that it has so many iconic elements and there’s no need to be restrained in your decorating.

You can draw on classic casino iconography including roulette wheels, dice, playing cards, poker chips, and one-arm-bandits. You can then bring the Vegas Strip into it with landmarks such as the pyramids, water fountains, and the Eiffel tower.

To complete the atmosphere you can play off the Vegas’ desert surrounding by using some common beach party props and lit palm trees. A ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign is a great way of allowing guests to know they’ve arrived and you can heighten this with the use of a lit archway at your entrance.

Large neon signs are essential but despite its reputation as a city of sin – the design should look tasteful and luxurious rather than garish.

Centrepieces, Lighting, And Colour

A Las Vegas theme is all about lighting and colour. You want loud gold, orange, and yellow colours to welcome in the night and you can contrast these with bright blues, greens, and pinks.

You can also choose to theme your colours after classic casino games with black, red, and bottle green.

Try to use a variety of different lighting sources. The famous Las Vegas casinos are known for their huge chandeliers done in art deco and baroque styles. You can match these with large neon signs.

These are lights that should really dazzle and you can do this with a dynamic lighting source that can change through the night.

Table Art’s custom centrepieces come with remote controlled lighting that will fill any venue with a delicious glow that can change to meet the atmosphere you want to create. This makes it a very cost-effective way to get the Vegas feel at your venue.

As for the design, you can choose from a range of props, statues and statements pieces such as palm trees, hot air balloons, luminous globes, or even an ice sculpture. You can look at some of our previous creations for inspiration.
