Exchange Rate Fluctuations
The Jordanian Dinar (JOD) is pegged to the United States Dollar (USD). The exchange rate is 0.709 JOD/USD and has been at this level for the last fifteen years.
The exchange rate between the Jordanian Dinar and the Euro fluctuates accordingly. Many (work) contracts concluded by the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) and administered by PMU are in JOD, while the related loan or grant is in EUR (previously DEM or ITL). In case of short-fall of funds extended to WAJ by the development partners, WAJ is committed to provide the difference.
