The all-new Yahoo! Sports
We like to think that we are as passionate about sports as you, the Yahoo! Sports user.

Like you, we don't leave town if a division rival is on the schedule and we plan trips to spring training in early October. We keep our desks filled with fantasy football champion plaques and bobbleheads of obscure players. We grow playoff beards. Our bobbleheads grow playoff beards.

We carry this passion for sports into our work. We're always looking for better ways to deliver the world of sports to your browser in new and compelling ways.

With this in mind, we're introducing you to the new Yahoo! Sports site.

This first-phase release features a new look and feel that will make you wonder how you got by without it. A few of the upgrades:

  • A new layout that gives our editors the ability to speak to you about what’s most important right now in sports. You'll see the impactful photos, the latest articles by our experts, our best exclusive video, and more.

Lead Story and Features

  • You can now get today’s scores from all of your teams across all sports in one view on the 'My Teams' tab of the homepage scoreboard.

My Teams scoreboard

  • The navigation on the new site has been streamlined to give you easy access through flyout menus to more of the sections on our site. Cross-league navigation is always available behind "Sports Home" and the flyouts are expecially handy for moving between deeper level pages. There's also a flyout menu that gives you direct access to your fantasy teams.

Fantasy menu

  • We’ve worked in even more access to the fantasy games you play with modules featuring fantasy leaders and personalized fantasy alerts and messages.

Who's Hot and Fantasy Updates

And this is just the beginning. The coming months will bring a host of new features that will continue to connect you with your passion for sports.

So leave some comments and let us know what you think about the new site. We love it and we hope you do too.

It took me a while to realize that hovering with the mouse causes the flyout menus to appear. Maybe some sort of visual indicator will help people discover this feature?

Overall, amazing redesign.

I like the new changes! When is the baseball challenge league against Funston and Evans going to happen? I REALLY want in. I've challenged Evans before in email and he ducked me with "we can't play readers." NOW, he is playing readers and I missed the football league but if there is a baseball league, I want in. Consider this a challenge from the STV overall Champion! http://www.myspace.com/sportstalkvillage

Arena Football could really use some more coverage and updates.
1) The 2007 schedule is out
2) There is a 19th team: New Orleans VooDoo

I think the AFL will soon overtake the NHL as the #4 sport in america...ESPN will do a lot for a sport.
I believe the AFL deserves the same level of coverage the NHL, and maybe even the NBA gets.

My name is Gene DiPaula and I am a graduate student in the Department of Mass Communication and Communication Studies at Towson University. As part of the research for my master’s thesis, I am conducting a survey to determine how people feel about their favorite professional athletes. If you choose to participate in my project, you will be asked to complete a short survey (it should take about five minutes). It is not necessary to answer every question, and you may discontinue your participation in the project at any time. The survey can be found at http://www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?p=WEB2265ZG8BJQG.

If you choose to participate in the study, your participation will be completely confidential. Neither anyone reading the results of the survey nor I will be able to identify you. Please do not put your name on the survey form. As an incentive to participate, you will be eligible to win a $100 gift card to your choice of Dick’s Sporting Goods, The Sports Authority or espn.com. One winner will be chosen at random. In order to be eligible, you must provide an e-mail address at the end of the survey. We assure you that the e-mail address will only be used to notify you in the case that you are the winner of the gift card. It will not be attached to your answers in the survey, or otherwise be used to identify you. Your e-mail address will not be sold or given to anyone and will be immediately deleted from our database once the winner of the gift card has been determined.

If you have any questions about the project, you may contact me at (410) 402-2063, my faculty advisor, Dr. Sean Baker at (410) 704-5856, or the Chairperson of Towson University’s Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Participants, Dr. Patricia M. Alt, at (410) 704-2236. A copy of the results of the survey, reported in aggregate form, will be available to you upon completion of my project, if you would like to see it.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Gene DiPaula

Ok, I like the new layout but you forgot a sport..SOFTBALL...yes it is a sport just like baseball and it is avidly followed by those of us with young girls that believe the only way to pitch is underhand. The Lady Vols softball team finish 2nd in the nation. Their pitcher is already on the Olympic roster. Come on guys and gals don't leave them out just because their professional teams are ignored by the rest of the world. Think how you'ld feel if it was your child playing and not getting any coverage. There are travel softball teams just like there are travel little league and Babe Ruth teams and we do have world series events.

I am convinced that the NBA is fixed by David STERN because from now on, I will no longer trust all the hipe & hoopla surrounding games during the playoffs. The 2 PHX Suns that were punished against the Spurs in game 4 while Robert Horry instigated the whole thing was unjustified.Stern must be shot.
