Agenda: Wide-ranging discussions on arms control and other issues in the first summit meeting in more than six years.

Result: Accords on revival of cultural exchanges and enhancement of air safety. No arms control agreements are reached. REYKJAVIK, Iceland Oct. 11-12, 1986

Agenda: Provide momentum for arms control talks.

Result: Initial agreement on the elimination of all European-based medium-range missiles and equal limits of 100 on warheads outside Europe. The accord snags over American plans for a space-based missile defense system and Soviet insistence on linking all arms control issues. WASHINGTON >Dec. 8-10, 1987

Agenda: Strategic arms and others issues, including human rights, regional conflicts and trade. The first visit to the American capital by a Soviet leader since 1973.

Result: Signing of a treaty eliminating medium- and shorter-range nuclear weapons, based on land.
