At the Great Lakes International Marine Training and Research Centre (GLIMTRC) at Georgian College in Owen Sound, Ontario, our three-year Marine Engineering and Marine Navigation co-op programs boast a progressive mix of skills training, shipboard training and academic studies like navigation training in our marine simulators.

An extensive $8-million dollar renovation to upgrade and modernize the facilities and training equipment was completed in November 2008 to enhance hands-on experiences.

Canadian shipping companies support these programs by providing a variety of inland and coastal placements for cadet work terms, which can lead to employment upon graduation. With a worldwide shortage of ships’ officers, your future job prospects are unlimited. Marine Navigation Officers have starting salaries range starting from $60,000.
