Trudeau to speak at local scholarship fundraiser

Papineau MP Justin Trudeau will be the guest speaker at a fundraising dinner for the N'Swakamok Alternative School Scholarship May 30.

Trudeau is the son of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.

The dinner will be held at the Steelworkers Hall on Brady Street, starting at 6 p.m.

The N'Swakamok Alternative School is run through a partnership between the N'Swakamok Native Friendship Centre and the Rainbow District School Board. It has bee running for 21 years, and has 190 graduates.

A scholarship for graduates of the school was created by the N'Swakamok Native Friendship Centre in 2000. It has been funded through donations from various businesses and community partners.

Tickets to the event cost $50 per person, or $400 for a table of eight. Tax receipts are available.
