If you tuned in to tonight's (May 15, 2012) UFC on Fuel TV 3: "Korean Zombie vs. Poirier" event that took place in Fairfax, Va., and were paying attention (it wasn't easy) you may have noticed someone missing on your monitor.

That someone is none other than Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White, who is always present cageside at every single UFC event. White, who hasn't missed a live UFC fight card in 11 years, was absent because he has upcoming surgery scheduled in Los Angeles, Calif., on Weds., May 16, 2012.

The problem: Meniere's disease.

According to MayoClinic.com, Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that causes spontaneous episodes of vertigo, which is a sensation of a spinning motion along with fluctuating hearing loss, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), and sometimes a feeling of fullness or pressure in your ear. In most cases, Meniere's disease affects only one ear.

People in their 40s and 50s are more likely than people in other age groups to develop Meniere's disease, but it can occur in anyone, even children. Although Meniere's disease is considered a chronic condition, there are various treatment strategies that can help relieve symptoms and minimize the disease's long-term impact on your life.

Or, as White explains it via his official Twitter account, "It's like Vertigo but on steroids:"

first fight I will miss in 11 years and it is KILLING me!!! I have to have surgery in LA 2 morrow or trust me I would be there.

White, who is possibly one of the busiest, if not the busiest presidents of any sports organization in the world, is always on the move, constantly on an airplane flying from city-to-city and country-to-country on any given week. So the setback obviously didn't sit too well with him.

He does, however, expect a rather quick recovery:

I'm hoping to be in and out quick. I have no time for this shit but it has to be done.

White also stated via his twitter that he already has plans to be in the air sometime next week.

The president's work, apparently, is never done.
