A petition has been drawn up calling for the next class of submarines to be named Barrow, after the Cumbrian town.
Hundreds of submarines have been built at Barrow, including the Royal Navy's latest nuclear Astute class.

The yard built its first submarine in 1886 for the Ottoman Empire while HMS Dreadnought, the UK's first nuclear submarine, was also built in Barrow.
