In Aberdeen we are very proud to have led the way in Scotland by becoming the first city to be awarded Fairtrade status. This happened in 2004 and since then we have tried to increase the use of Fairtrade products in even more places throughout the city. Shops, offices, churches, schools and community groups - we've held awareness-raising events in all of these. The other cities in Scotland are now also Fairtrade and together we are taking on the job of making Scotland a Fair Trade nation. Some people may ask "why?", but the answer is very simple. The more the idea of trading fairly is spread, the more Fairtrade products will be requested and bought. Many producers living in the poorest countries of the world will be able to improve their lives. As the poster on the right says, "You can make a big difference".Please do.
