A must read for beginners
The book is a veritable treasure of tips and good practices. That’s the USP of this book. It is not preachy, rather each chapter is introduced in one or two paragraphs and is followed by quotes from famous and published authors, related to the chapter. Not only do the quotes make an interesting read, they help understand the concept better and, what I loved most was to see how diverse these published authors are and how they come from all walks of life.

It's a just the right kind of encyclopedia for all the Indian Authors. There was something important to grasp and follow in future as a writer so i filled the book highlighting those wonderful human mind friendly writing tips. Moreover having attended Kiruba's unconference I learnt that his books are the proof that he has eaten the pudding himself (the proof of the pudding is the books he has authored). This book gives us confidence and removes the myths, mysteries and mists from my brains with respect to book publishing and book self-publishing. The joy of independence and flexibility with self publishing is very tempting too. Getting my books published seems so do-able today after i started acting on the advice given in "First Book"

If you are a first-time author and want to motivate yourself to start, then it is a good choice. But I you really want to know technical details about writing a novel/book, it is not good at all. It covers very small details about how to start and keep going. But how your story/book should be structured, how much detailing is required, how to present your thoughts or subject those are very limited. This book is full of quotes from famous authors to keep you motivated. Nothing else as such. You can easily skip this book if you are already a motivated person towards your goal and keen to learn technical details about creative writing or non-fiction writing.
