Great Pop Filter For The Price; Bad Clamping Mechanism
This pop filter has brought my recordings to another level. I have to say it helps me not to worry about my heavy annunciations of the "s" sound and "p" sounds.Design & FunctionalityThe Dragonpad Pop filter is a plastic circle with a mesh netting inside. It has, what appears to be, an aluminum shell tubing connecting the filter to its hinge. The hinge is where you connect it to your microphone, stand, or anything the clamp can hold on to. The clamp is made of metal and plastic. The clamp is sort of curved or angled; the mechanism that twists to close the clamp is a mediocre metal screw with a plastic cap with grooves to help you twist it.The clamp here is the issue with this affordable pop filter. I use the Blue Yeti microphone. It is a really sensitive mic so you could really hear my annunciations clearly. I bought this pop filter and keep it about 3 inches away from the mic and it helps so much. Such a small thing makes such a big difference. Having the Blue Yeti also mean the base is hard to attach the filter to. You really have to rig it on. This is quite frustrating and the reason why I deducted a star.OpinionFor the price, you might as well purchase it. To be honest, I deal with the horrible clamp just because the quality of the pop filter is great for price. If you can find one with the same quality at a cheaper price or roughly a bit more you might want to pick it up. Five bucks! Five bucks! I was using an old hanger and stocking combo as a pop filter for my Blue Snowball USB mike to save money, but for $5.33 on Amazon. I thought.... give it a shot. Was I glad I did. Same day delivery was nice. (I bought it with other items.) After some use and a few experiments, it is safe to say I have seen the last of my old homemade pop filter!
This works as well as my musician brothers $80.00 pop filter. I am not a pro but I do narrate my own videos and animations for YouTube, and the Dragonpad is very effective. It is very sleek looking and the arm has a rubber coating that slows rusting. My pop filter has banished hissing and lisping sounds that appeared when pronouncing letters like “s”, and the popping that follows letters “p” and “b”. The pop filter is double layered to filter popping accurately, also preventing any spit from damaging my precious microphone. (I have been known to spit sometimes.)
The gooseneck is 360-degree flexible, being extremely convenient for use and easy to handle even for me... : ) . The swivel mount provides a nice lock that attaches the entire pop filter to the surface where you attach it to.
For the price you can't go wrong with this gem. HIGHLY recommended.
Edit: I discovered that when blowing through the pop filter screen, negligible air passes through. I guess that's a good thing! : )

The best aspect of the filter is that it mounts securely to the arm I use (Blue Compass). It does help inhibit pops (about 75% and deadens in degrees the remainder - though with care I don't generate many). The build quality is sufficient for the task and price. The only issue is related to positioning the filter.
I can get the filter positioned roughly in front of the mic, the diaphragm is completely covered, but it will not retain my slight/refined adjustments. It basically slips back to the rough position. I have tried to create a new rough position but the same thing happens. When it looks like it stay in the right place, over time friction hold seems to be overcome by the weight. It is still imminently usable so I stick with it.
