How does E-ZPass^® work?

As your vehicle travels under the toll gantry, the E-ZPass Tag (1) that is mounted on your vehicle's windshield is read by the antennae (2) and your E-ZPass account is charged the proper toll amount. If your vehicle does not have an E-ZPass Tag, the cameras (3) take photos of your license plate for processing. A Toll Bill(s) will be sent to the registered owner of the vehicle, using either the address provided by the relevant DMV or later address that may have been obtained from the USPS National Change of Address (NCOA) database.
