Ben Heine
- Ben grew up in Ivory Coast. He lived there 7 years, along with his parents and his 3 sisters. His father was a commercial engineer and his mother a Modern Jazz dance teacher. Everything changed when the family came back to Brussels in 1990. Ben was a demanding child and he didn’t like school at all. He became wiser, more disciplined and a studious person later on, after a stay in a boarding school (at the “Collège Saint Vincent” (Belgium), from 12 y/o to 18 y/o).
In 1994, he discovered for the first time that his energy, his fears, his emotions and his ideals could be canalized in “visual projects”. It was the very beginning of a never ending adventure in drawing and painting. As a teenager, Ben had many other hobbies and activities: besides writing poetry on a daily basis he played drums, piano and guitar, he also used to play basketball and run every day. Zazzle - 1. Top three (or more) tips for new and emerging talent to stay afloat and last long term.
Be confident. Trust yourself. Try the untried. Learn from your mistakes and always remember that only efforts and hard work will bring you success, satisfaction and happiness. Be faithful and thankful to the people who helped and supported you and consider forgiving those who tried to destroy you. Don’t believe in providence. Always believe in your skills. if you ever fail, try to fight more, if there is no chance at all, simply give up and try something different.
2. What has been one of the toughest music related experiences you’ve faced?
One difficult challenge was to make the soundtracks of the following animations:

Time Warp3. How did you get through or deal with it?
I didn’t have much time to complete these projects (original music soundtracks and animations) but I gave everything and tried to be as organised as possible.
4. What did you learn?
It worked but maybe I could have done more with more time.
5. What music/entertainment related book, Blog, film or documentary would you recommend to inspire someone and why?
From time to time I read music magazines such as “Music Tech” and “Future Music”, it’s really nice to be aware of the new available technologies and learn more. I also like SoundCloud a lot; it’s a great community to share talents, ideas and experiences.
