Representatives of western Ukrainian intelligentsia have called upon candidates for Ukrainian president to withdraw in favour of current Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, according to the zaxid.net portal, referring to the head of the Congress of Ukrainian Intelligentsia in Lviv region, Stepan Pavliuk.
According to Pavliuk, the representatives of the European Congress of Ukraine initiative group in Lviv region, which was created two weeks ago, have sent their statement to Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko, leader of the Front for Change (Front Zmin) public initiative Arseniy Yatseniuk, leader of All-Ukrainian Civil Position public organization Anatoliy Hrytsenko and other representatives of national democratic forces.
The statement includes a call to unite under the candidacy of Tymoshenko, who, in their opinion, is likely to win the presidential election.
