Medvedev's statement may be 'to Yuschenko's advantage,' says Tihipko

The statement of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev about the "anti-Russian policy" of Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko is not news to anyone in Ukraine, but in the current political situation, however, it may be to Yuschenko's advantage, presidential candidate and a well-known banker Serhiy Tihipko told the press on Tuesday, commenting on Medvedev's letter to Yuschenko.

"Yuschenko will go anyway. He has understood that the country doesn't need him, so he is trying to manipulate the moods of nationalists, attempting to consolidate them. This wouldn't work for the consolidation of the country, but he is getting ready for the next parliamentary election," Tihipko said.

He added that Yuschenko had had chances to bring Ukraine to a new level of development, but he neglected them and, as a result, lost voters' trust.

Tihipko also said that the Ukrainian officials shouldn't concentrate too much attention on the country's past, but should look to the future.
