Candidate for Ukrainian president and Regions Party leader Viktor Yanukovych has said he is ready to call on people to go to the Maidan, Independence Square in Kyiv, if the results of the presidential election are rigged.
"If there's a need and we see that the election could be rigged, and if it's necessary to travel to Kyiv because to this, we'll ask you, our dear voters, to help us defend the results of your vote," he said live on regional television in Kherson on Friday.
Yanukovych said that the Regions Party possesses information that government representatives are currently "motivating" the chairmen of election commissions and seeking options for victory in every possible way.
"This poses a real threat of the rigging of the election," he said.
