I have used Shockbyte before for MC Java server hosting, they host fine in terms of updtime and hardware... but there customer service is like non-existent and the add-on feature of $15 a month of "server management" is/was a a joke. No adequate replies, no timely manner and shuffling me around to "departments." I gave 2 stars because they do host the server, but at what costs? Turns out it will cost a fair amount monetarily for poor service. I do not recommend.

From the onset, the modded Minecraft server rented from Shockbyte had issues. They responded relatively quickly to the ticket regarding the server’s lag, and offered a transfer to a server node that wasn’t being overwhelmed but that wasn’t the only issue. The server consistently encountered watchdog crashes, egregious lag with even just a single person on, and responses to support tickets began to take multiple days to receive a link to a generic “how to fix X problem” page that no longer existed while being shuffled between support people. I have run modded servers with double the mods using half the ram that have ran smoother, so I would recommend those reading reviews to skip renting a Minecraft server from Shockbyte.

We have used this service for as long as I can remember! There were no issues with Shockbyte, rather, we simply stopped having the time to play and as such, no longer have the need for a server. In the future if we play again, we'll most likely return to Shockbyte.

What can I say at first I could tell they were just following protocol of giving advice on what I should do as the customer/consumer. Upon very easily explaining to Tanner that I would just screw it up .... they explained they can do it I just had to give permission I was worried at first as I felt like they couldn't do anything and just give me advice but Tanner went above and beyond to help me and not only try and fix the issue but is willing to wipe and install everything I want for me which I am beyond thankful for and within the same hour of having the issues! This PERSON deserves a RAISE!

Product was not delivered within the 3 business days as per their own refund policy. Refund was denied despite gaming server taking ~3 weeks to set up.
Continued recurring costs after they closed my ticket to cancel the service without response and continued to bill. All attempts to contact and cancel/refund the service ended the same way. Reported to my bank as fraud in a means to block transactions.

I had difficulties finding/loading into my Ark server after checking all of the guides I went to the in-system chat bot to talk to an agent. Triden helped me immensely and manage to find a way to get into the server!

The general support staff worked with me to get my palworld server up and running smoothly. The sever at first would only let me in. After trying out multiple troubleshooting options and a couple node jumps, the server let everyone in and has a steady low ping. Jade L, Alejandro M, and Bastion F are the real MVPs.

I've had an absolutely outstanding support experience from you guys. I work with various technical support teams on a daily basis as part of my job, yet this support experience has far surpassed what I've had elsewhere in years. Even more surprising is that your team doesn't have per-team member ticket ownership, but somehow there's continuity from one communication to the next. That's an incredibly rare thing!
I've been helped by too many people to list over the last month, but all of them have given outstanding support, going above and beyond even when I'm troubleshooting subtle things that many support teams would just dismiss.

Shockbyte's ease of access to all of your files, video tutorials on how to edit your server to how you want, 24/7 support, and fair pricing on rental plans keeps me staying here with them as my go-to server rental! While I have to occasionally stop renting a server for financial issues, in the end I don't think I'd want to swap out to a different one!
