Check out our co-founder Nathaniel Wade in conversation with Chris Sims Managing Director of Small/medium business BT Group
Yesterday saw the end of October and with-it Black History Month. This year has been one of the biggest yet with a huge number of events, learning and opportunities to understand the crucial role that black heritage and culture has played in building the society we live in today. Here at BT Business we came together to celebrate the rich history and global significance of black-owned businesses. The BT Group Ethnic Diversity Network (EDN) did a fantastic job (as always!) in bringing together this year’s line-up of events and speakers, including: - Our EDN Early Careers and Young Professionals event, where guests candidly shared their experiences of their early days at BT - Celebrating Black British entrepreneurship at our unique pop-up event with Wakuda, a marketplace to discover and shop for cultural gifts and lifestyle products from talented Black creators, and its fantastic vendors - Hosting the panel event “Shaping History: The Power of Black-Owned Business with entrepreneurs” Oliver Hypolite-Bishop, Nathaniel Wade, Rachel Allison, Emeka Frederick and Ifeyinwa Frederick. My personal highlight was speaking with Nathaniel Wade, entrepreneur and co-founder of Wakuda. Back in May I had the pleasure of awarding Wakuda with the Digital Star Award Small Business Britain Small Awards. Check out our conversation below. I’m really proud that this year’s #BlackHistoryMonth2023 was so well embraced in BT and the great job done by the EDN. It’s one small step along a long road to creating a truly inclusive society and it has been great to be part of it. Annmarie H. #BTEthnicDiversityNetwork
