We’ve eradicated smallpox, now it’s time to do the same to malaria, polio, cervical cancer and more. We’re calling on world leaders to prioritise immunisation in 2024. Gavi representatives have joined a high-level delegation of the Global Polio Elimination Initiative in Madagascar to support the country in strengthening routine immunisation while combatting a #polio outbreak in the country: "Too many children continue to be deprived of life-saving vaccines. By strengthening routine immunisation and increasing vaccination coverage, we can ensure that the most marginalised communities are no longer left behind" - Gavi's Alex de Jonquieres.  

Measles and rubella cases are on the rise globally, but Lao PDR is fighting back with the launch of a nationwide vaccination campaign which is set to protect >500,000 children under the age of five! "This campaign must prioritise reaching all children, especially those who haven't received a single dose of a measles-containing vaccine. Congratulations Benin, Liberia and Sierra Leone for launching large-scale rollouts of the world’s first malaria vaccine targeting millions of children! Eight countries across Africa have so far rolled out the malaria vaccine as part of childhood immunisation programmes in 2024.
