About us

At UCHealth, we do things differently. We strive to promote individual and community health and leave no question unanswered along the way. We’re driven to improve and optimize health care. Our network of nationally-recognized hospitals, clinic locations and health care providers extends throughout Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska. We deliver excellent care close to home, no matter where you might live. Our success is defined by more than our patient volumes or treatment outcomes. It’s about building a team of exceptional people, from our clinical staff to our expert physicians, who consistently do what is right for the individuals we are honored to serve. UCHealth, a 501(c) (3) health system, was formed in 2012 to increase access to innovative and advanced patient care, realize supply chain and IT efficiencies, and to better serve patients throughout the Rocky Mountain region by combining academic-based and community-focused medicine. Together, the clinics and hospitals within UCHealth can offer the most advanced treatments to improve the lives of patients and their families in Colorado and beyond.

Pueblo's Roselawn Cemetery is the final resting place for approximately 3,000 military veterans who served our country from the Civil War through today. To honor these service members, Jose Ramirez has a mission to locate and document every veteran grave using GPS coordinates. A 25-year veteran of both the Army and Marines, Jose spent much of that time as a special forces member. While placing wreaths at the cemetery in December, Jose learned that Roselawn didn’t know the exact number of veterans who were buried there. As a Next Chapter project manager at UCHealth Southern Colorado Region, Jose decided to change that. Jose hopes to adorn each veteran’s final resting place with a miniature U.S. flag every Memorial Day and a Wreaths Across America wreath each December, ensuring that these veterans continue to be honored and recognized. This is no small task for Jose or Next Chapter; over 66,000 people are buried at Roselawn, some dating back to the 1870s. Jose is utilizing cellphones and special GPS mapping software to facilitate the process. “You can take a picture and drop that picture onto that pin, so you have a marker for future reference. As new veterans are buried there, they can be added to the database.” Jose hopes this opportunity to serve might even be a form of therapy for many veterans who are struggling with their separation from military service. Thank you, Jose, for your work to improve lives. ♥️

Sierra Wilcox and Kelsey Hericks jumped at the opportunity to sponsor a recent high school graduate in a first-of-its-kind observership program at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital emergency department. The program provides an opportunity for students to have an in-depth experience observing how employees in clinical roles do their jobs. One type of observership is for those who are seeking supervised clinical experiences as part of their preparation to apply to professional school. “The program requires a sponsor that commits to provide mentorship to the student during their month-long observership,” said Blake Wollenberg, emergency services liaison and program facilitator. “[Sierra and Kelsey] are extremely intelligent, and both are amazing preceptors. They have the attitude and the mentality that I wanted [the student] to learn from.” Despite their workload at UCHealth and both being full-time students themselves, Sierra and Kelsey still volunteered their time to co-sponsor the student because they recognized how valuable a program like this can be. Thank you, Sierra and Kelsey, for your work to improve lives. ♥️

Whether you're a first-time or a long-time gardener, there’s an opportunity this summer to grow extra food to help those in need. 🌱 For a second year, a group of passionate patients at the UCHealth Family Medicine Center (FMC) Food Pantry in Fort Collins is rallying neighbors to grow an extra row in their gardens to support the pantry’s continued food demand. In 2023, the pantry served nearly 3,000 households, distributing more than 361,000 pounds of food during 16,353 visits. Of those visits, more than half were by families who had only started utilizing the pantry that year. “Our goal (with this grow-an-extra-row project) is to improve the amount of fresh produce donated to the FMC food pantry by 5% from 2023’s donation amount of 1,155 pounds,” said Elizabeth Morgan, nurse and population health project coordinator for FMC. Free seeds are available at the pantry through May 31 (while supplies last). Find out more:
