I'm not very familiar with Korean cuisine but I've been hooked on this sauce since I tried it at a Korean restaurant. A little goes a long way and it's easy to add more or less for a mild or bold spiciness. It adds a delicious chili taste with a sweet note - it is similar to Sriracha but I find the taste of the Gochujang stronger, a bit sweeter, and more delicious. I love to add it to homemade fried rice, soup, and stir-fried vegetables. The paste is thick, so I usually dissolve it in soy sauce, broth, or a small amount of hot water to flavor a large dish evenly. The tub will last the casual cook like me ages!

I have looked in all my local grocery stores for this seasoning to no avail and was ecstatic to find it on here! (I shouldn't be surprised because Amazin is my go-to place for anything I want to purchase).

This seasoning will last a long time as a little bit goes a long way. You have to be able to handle "spicy hot" as this definitely has a kick to it along with the fabulous flavor.
I'm not sure what the traditional uses are for this but I brown chicken in sesame oil, garlic, salt & pepper, when it's almost finished I throw in sliced onions, bell pepper and lots of sliced cabbage. When it's almost finished cooking I add about a tbsp of this seasoning and mix well then serve the dish over Jasmine rice.

Oh my gosh, it is so darned good!

I would love if anyone could post their favorite recipes using this because I have no idea what to use it for except for the one meal I mentioned that a friend had cooked for me many years ago).

This is much pricier than what I've paid for in the past but I think it's worth every dime. Enjoy!

I make some seriously good spicy korean chicken with this stuff. I cant find it locally so I have purchased twice on amazon.Red chili paste ("gochujang" in Korean) is one of the essential seasoning ingredients in Korean cooking. For authentic Korean cooking, other hot sauces cannot replace the unique taste and texture of gochujang. Gochujang is used in numerous korean dishes such as bibimbap, spicy rice cake ("dduk bok gi") and spicy chicken (or pork) bulgogi. It is also used to make various stews and dipping sauces, like "ssamjang" (dipping sauce for lettuce wrap). Chung-Jung-One Gold Red Chili Paste is rich in flavor and color. Sunchang (brand) has been a reputable and popular brand in Korean for many years, especially in gochujang. The color may become darker as time goes by due to the continued maturing of the paste. It is safe to eat.

Bought this on the recommendation of my halmoni (Korean grandmother), who insisted that this brand was the only acceptable gochujang. I have to agree! I like the sweet undertone the spiciness brings--it's a surprisingly round flavor. As other reviews mention, it is quite spicy--I put one heaping tablespoon in a big pot of chicken stew and it was plenty spicy, so I recommend adding a little at a time to whatever you're making.

Also, for those concerned about the high fructose corn syrup mentioned in other reviews, my packaging lists tapioca syrup as the sweetener.

Having been born and raised in South Korea, I'm a bit particular about Korean foods and ingredients. Since a Korean market no longer exists in my city I've had to rely on online retailers for some of my ingredients.

This container of gochujang is very good. Although it's pricier than Pick N Saves version (for the same amount), it takes tremendously better.

For those unsure of how spicy this particular gochujang is, it does bring quite the heat. So, if you love spicy food and especially spicy Korean food, then this is the right gochujang for you.

I'll definitely buy this again.

YUM! if you like spicy food and Asian recipes.

I bought this pepper paste after learning about it in a recipe for a Korean dish called Bibimbap.

I researched the origin of this dish and gathered all the ingredients. This spice made the dish authentic and is one of the best things I have ever eaten. Really! In fact, google CNN's list of the best tasting food in the world and you will find it.

I later found a Korean restaurant and ordered their version but it was pathetic in comparison because I'm pretty sure they just used some common chili paste.

I also ordered the authentic Korean stone bowl from Amazon and although it wasn't necessary it made the experience more fun.

If you are into authentic flavors and like spicy food, this is right up your alley.
