Crunchy, but satisfying.

I thought there was a half of a lemon in there

We’re here to burgle your turts.

White ones vanilla flavored.

Like a Whitman's Sampler, you'll need to take one bite of each of them to figure out which ones are the good ones and put the other ones back.

There’s no image or emoji good enough to sum up how this comment made me feel

Anyone want to identify the morphs for us plebs?

[–]myeyespy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you the guy who commented yesterday about losing their job because they brought too many turtles to work?
BTW I love turtles! :)

I can smell this picture

And it's sad to know that every single one of them is addicted to meth.

[–]DwayneTheBathJohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get it.

[–]rgursk1 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Man I bought a few of these at a pet show for my little girls. I live on a lake. (Not gonna say where). I eventually released them in the lake. Afterwards I was discussing little turtles that kids have as pets with a state lakes/wildlife guy who was doing something in my lake and he said “ yeah , you know if you release those things into a local lake it’s a $10,000 fine......per incidence”. So I shut my mouth and went inside

He knew... He knew...

[–]EnjoiStyle 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You’re the worst kind of person

[–]rgursk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I wouldn’t do it today , now that I know. The lake already had many full grown versions of these. I thought it was their natural habitat

[–]unbitious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all beautiful or unique. It's not like each one is an amazing example of evolutionary artistry.

Amazing!

Why are there a bunch of turtle breeds in a bucket? Ready to be shipped of to Chinese pet shops? I don't like it.

[–]tygerdralion 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They seem to my untrained eye to all be different types. I would think a bucket for the pet trade would at least have a few repeats.

My guess is that it's a collection from some sort of sanctuary/zoo/etc that is hanging out while their habitats are cleaned.

[–]Mwoolery92 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Could be many reasons. Yours could be true, or, maybe their homes are being cleaned. They could be waiting for a bath, or maybe they’re being relocated to a larger home. It’s easiest to immediately assume the worst, but it’s possible that something good could come of this picture.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To have so many turtles of various species crowded together in a bucket together like this, whatever the reason, is not good keeping. Even an amateur keeper should know better.

[–]xikinz 4 points5 points  (7 children)

you may be right, but it's not cool to make assumptions. they very well could be going to nice homes. not sure why they'd all be in a bucket if they were straight on their way to be shipped to china either

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (6 children)

Agreed. They don’t ship live animals in something like a bucket, unless they are smuggling them and they plan to fill said bucket with some produce and drive them across a border somewhere. Fuckers are always stuffing tranquilized (noisy) animals like parrots or lemurs, into ungodly places to get them to another country (usually ours. We suck because we buy them) to sell as exotic pets.

Or my thinking is this is a person whose hobby is turtle raising and these are some young ones from nursery tanks that are being cleaned. I really want a turtle but my rheumatologist bugged out when I mentioned it. I take oral chemo to kill my immune system, then a shot of a biologic drug, to finish it off. They carry salmonella but normals just need to wash their hands after handling and try not to lick the turtle. Me, I guess just being close and touching them or cleaning their tank, even with washing afterward like I am going into surgery, could give me salmonella. And instead of being sick and miserable then recovering I would be sick and miserable then die. Yeah, nah.

[–]xikinz 3 points4 points  (3 children)

yeah, and if they were gonna smuggle them with produce i think few would be stupid enough to snap a picture first.

also wow, that really sucks. i used to really want a turtle, now i'd much rather have a snake or a tegu. but i'm fairly certain most of them carry salmonella too.

[–]WarmOutOfTheDryer 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I have a lizard, he's an amazing little guy to watch. All reptiles can carry salmonella. Not a big deal, I keep a bottle of hand sanitizer next to his tank. Unfortunately in the reptile trade there is a risk of running into wild-caught/illegal of a certain species.

My suggestion would be to go through a legitimate reptile rescue. My local one is run by guy who has a YouTube channel "goherping" that has videos covering how reptiles are sourced.

[–]xikinz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

goherping! love alex. good guy, i trust all his reptiles if i were to buy one.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would’ve settled for a bearded dragon or other lizard that won’t bite off my fingers, and has a personality rather more than other lizards. However yes, fucking salmonella. I am very disappointed.

[–]DottyOrange 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You could were gloves and dree down like ur gonna perform a surgery. But I still wouldn't risk it. I haf a desert tortise that lived in my backyard nearly my whole life until like 4yrs ago a cat or somthing killed her. I wanted to die. I always loved the thought of donating her to the tortise sanctuary when I move away from Vegas and her living longer then me and making more baby tortoises. I miss her so much.

[–]demon_fae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why all cats should be inside cats. It’s better for the cats to not be at risk from weather, predators, cars, et cetera, and better for local wildlife. House cats are the second most invasive species on earth (behind humans, obvs) and you are doing no one any favors by letting them outside. Unless you want to be partially responsible for endangering rare birds AND for your cat getting injured or ill KEEP YOUR CAT INSIDE WHERE THEY BELONG

Heroes in a half shell, turtle power.

[–]DwayneTheBathJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you were talking about the chocolate and got excited to discover a new flavour, but real turtles are pretty dope, too.

[–]Lightshines6346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a quick glance at this and thought it was a bowl of cereal.
