Cons first: These don't have the most durable shroud on the market and they aren't going to make it through the worst of what you could throw at them. The shroud is somewhat flimsy and would likely break if abused or maybe even if you sit on it in your back pocket. This isn't a construction zone quality tool.
Upside: They are cheap, sharp, just as safe, and more than adequate for most home, garden, hobby and home workshop uses. The blade is every bit the quality of the more expensive ones and lasts as long. The shroud tolerates normal and reasonable use and I see no deficiencies at all other than the durability of the handle in harsh use.
Perhaps the biggest unstated benefit is that I don't worry where I put one of these or get irritated when I absent-mindedly put one down.... cuz these are cheap and if I can't find it, I have many more and I'm not out the $7 I would have paid for one over at Home Depot. I'm a cheapskate. What's more, I don't mind as much clipping off the used portion because again.... I'm cheap and so are these. Therefore, I don't end up trying to overuse each tip.
