Permanent, full time position, starting date negotiable. We seek a highly organised and proactive leader for our extensive co-curricular sports programme. A person with New Zealand school experience preferred. Glendowie College offers a wide range of sports and has student participation rates significantly higher than the national average. The college, its students and parents value the opportunity for students to participate and compete at all levels. You will be responsible for implementing our annual Sports Strategic Plan, working with our two current Sports Co-ordinators. We seek someone with the organisational and relationship skills to lead the sports team, effectively co-ordinate our sports programme, and support our large number of volunteers. Mount Albert Grammar School is one of New Zealand’s top secondary schools and we are seeking an experienced sports administrator to join us. The school has a proud tradition of student participation in sport. The role is Monday to Friday and term time only, although you must have the availability to work on Saturdays as required, in the summer and/or winter sports season. The primary focus of the role is to provide administrative support to the Director of Sport Administration and Facilities to ensure the smooth running and on-going development of sport. We are looking for an experienced rowing director for a mature and developing school rowing programme. The ideal candidate will have passionate about helping young people succeed in both their sport and in life. Mount Albert Grammar School (MAGS) has a flourishing programme of 60-80 boy and girl rowers from novice to senior level. MAGS is a co-educational, state-funded school that is one of the largest and most multi-cultural in New Zealand. It is also one of the most successful both academically and in sport, and prides itself on a values-based education that supports both pillars. Support and strategy oversight is provided by an experienced Steering Committee. The programme is run in close liaison with both the school and our affiliate club, the West End Rowing Club (WERC), one of New Zealand’s formative and leading rowing clubs for more than 100 years. We use the facilities of WERC, training in conjunction with the club and two other schools, and have collaborative use of rowing plant owned by WERC to supplement our owned equipment. MAGS has a long and illustrious history in high school rowing in New Zealand stretching back to the 1940’s. After a period away from the sport, the rowing programme was restarted in 2009. Completing our 13th successful year in March, we are looking for a Director to lead the programme into its next exciting chapter. What we need from you: • Extensive coaching experience in both the finer points of technique and in the broader ability to guide rowers to achieve long term goals, both athletically and in terms of personal development. • An appreciation of values-based coaching that fosters team culture and individual character, providing opportunities for athletes to pursue goals of personal excellence both on and off the water. • Leadership experience of both rowing squads and coaching teams. • Proven ability to work with Y9-Y13 (13-18-year-old) athletes and their parents. • Excellent organisational capability. • Excellent relational attributes, including skills in communication and conflict resolution, and a willingness to work with varied stakeholders to achieve a shared outcome. • Strong leadership attributes, with a drive to take the initiative and lead our programme “from the front” through its next stage of development. Teaching qualifications (in any subject) are not necessary, but would be a strong adjunct, providing options and efficiencies. Remuneration is negotiable, dependent upon skills and experience. We are looking for a full-time Sports Coordinator to work alongside our Director of Sport on a journey of growth as our school roll increases substantially year on year. The successful applicant will work alongside the Director of Sport to assist with delivering sport and physical activity opportunities at Hobsonville Point Secondary School. This role encompasses managing and maintaining all administrative tasks associated with delivering sport and physical activity in a school setting. Strong organisational, time management and communication skills are a must. In addition to this support and administrative role, the Sports Coordinator will lead the launch of a new, innovative Athlete Development Programme in 2024. This will be three hours on Wednesday afternoons (plus planning time) with up to 30 student-athletes, exploring what it takes to become a high-performing athlete. You will support and develop each individual student-athlete to maximise their potential athletically, academically, and socially. You will focus on physical development, strength and conditioning, engaging specialist coaches, and progression planning aligned to each student's training goals. Along with physical development, you will look into nutrition, psychology of performance, hauora, and rehab. The specific start date and qualifications for this position are negotiable. This role is covered under the Support Staff Collective Agreement and pay rates will be dependent on skills, qualifications and experience. The role is 40 hours per week during term time only.
