There are myriad of definitions associated with the term “intersectionality,” and from experience, the authors (Jackson and Jabbie) have coined a definition as provided below:

  • Intersectionality is an overlapping experience of people’s marginality on conceptual issues connected with intersecting identities of prejudices associated with issues around race, gender, social and economic features.

The above coined definition can also be linked with already established definitions (two of which are provided below) of intersectionality that underscore particular notion of the need to embrace marginalized groups like women, whose marginality can also cut across race and within-feminist marginality.
