Polarizovaná politika?

Vliv volebních kampaní na stranickou polarizaci v České republice

Eva Lebedová

The monograph focuses on answering the question whether the characterof election campaigns (with their emphasis on sharpening the ideological struggle, negative attacks, personalization, conflict framing of events, confrontational rhetoric of leaders and politicians, strengthening of voters’partisan attitudes) can contribute to increasing party polarization. The book is structured into three chapters, with the author pursuing three main goals. First among them is to shed light on theoretical and conceptual bases associated with the polarization phenomenon. The second chapter outlines the development of the ideological polarization of Czech society, whereby the author examines the degree of polarization of Czech politics from 1995 to 2016 from the angle of its most significant, left-right dimension. The third and last chapter of the monograph is completely devoted to the impact of election campaigns on party polarization.
