Another facet of the app that we love so much are the articles. They are such a good, wholesome way to start the day and it always gives us common ground for a lively discussion at the dinner table. Great simple dictionary. right at the TOP first line type your word in; so easy. IF you choose to use them it also gives a "word of the day" with speaker pronunciation; an interesting "Article of the Day"; "Quote of the Day"; "This day in History", "Today's birthday"; and "In the News". If you enter your birth date one time you get a "Horoscope" and there are 4 different word games can be used by all ages. Spelling bee has 3 difficulty levels, hangman easy, Match Up harder. Great for learning new words. SUPER application and it is free, there are ads but with the features in this app it is worth it.

You can enter your Zip code and it will give you your daily weather report for a week. I have checked against the computer and newspaper and it is right on.

I love the Dictionary app by Farlex because it it's easy, versatile, and fun.

No longer do i have to visit and wait for a web page to finish loading before i can look up a new word that i just read. I simply open the shop, type the word, and easily have three or four definitions in seconds.

What if i want to know how to say a word in another language? No problem. Dictionary it's a versatile, robust app that not only does a word's country of origin, but also offers on-the-fly translation with virtually a mere click of a button.

Being able to learn new word in both my native tongue and other tongues is simply fun for me. Good job Farlex.

Useless as a Dictionary, now. When I first signed up for the free dictionary, I did so to find the definition of words I was not familiar with. Times have changed! I haven't used it in a while and now I find so much useless stuff that I can't even use this AP for what a real dictionary is supposed to be used for. I'm getting rid of it and going back to my trusty hardbound Webster's Dictionary.

I primarily use TheFreeDictionary.com as an online resource, as it provides sources from a variety of scholary works and (what really keeps me coming back) also raise donations for the United Nations World Food Programme. Farlex Inc. has apparently partnered with the UN in sponsoring meals for deprived children around the world, and keeps track of your contribution via a counter on your account.

That's a very humane thing for Farlex to do and I wholeheartedly approve. <b>However</b>, this is where the app poses a problem: You cannot log into your TFD account in it. This has led me to believe that NO contribution is being made, which would be disappointing. If my suspicion is true, then I'll have no choice but to uninstall this app and use the (dreadful) Mpoints system on the Dictionary.com app. It's not an option I look forward to -_-

My suggestion: Enable account log-ins and ensure that sponsorship for the WFP continues in-app. That will draw me and, I'm sure, many others to use this app.

This is the best dictionary app I have used. I use it basically everyday. It has the most comprehesive definition lists and wonderfully interesting word origins. I also love the idioms section since I like to introduce new and old phases to my speech. I also read older style books like old western and turn of the 20th century and this app brings clearity to these now unused phrases and words. A must have app.

It is laid out well and displays definitions from more than one English dictionary, so you are certain to understand the meaning of the word(s) you have looked up, and pronunciations are written with symbols of the International Phonetic Alphabet.
