Welcome to the April edition of Current Sports Medicine Reports!

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the end of the winter sports season. March Madness is in full swing for the men and the women. I am horrible at picking brackets -- there is really no other way to sum it up. I watched the NCAA Men's Wrestling Championships – what amazing athletes who are truly dedicated to their craft. Best of luck to everyone in their bracket challenges.

I am very excited to share this edition of CSMR with you. Environmental Conditions Section Editor Yao-wen Eliot Hu, MD, MBA, FACSM, has assembled an amazing set of articles. This section starts with three very interesting case reports covering a variety of topics including electrocution injury after AED use, ankle pain due to pigmented villonodular synovitis, and ice sheet cooling in the field. Three excellent section articles follow, covering swimming-induced pulmonary edema, an overview of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for a variety of brain morbidities, and dive hazards. This is an awesome edition, thanks Eliot!

This edition also includes the second of three Team Physician Consensus Statements that CSMR is co-publishing with Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise®. Be sure to read, “Mass Participation and Tournament Event Management for the Team Physician: A Consensus Statement (2022 Update)."

Last, but certainly not least, Scanning Sports Medicine written by Robert B. Kiningham, MD, MA, FACSM, looks at the latest clinical research published by ACSM. Be sure to check it out.

We are one month closer to Boston and ACSM's Annual Meeting, and I can't wait. Visit https://www.acsm.org/annual-meeting/annual-home to learn more about the meeting, register, or plan your schedule.

Sincerely,
Shawn
