Former junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez scored a unanimous-decision victory over Rances Barthelemy after 12 hard-fought rounds Saturday night in Fresno, California. Ramirez (29-1, 18 KOs), ESPN's No. 8-ranked at 140 pounds, won by scorecards of 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110. It was Ramirez's first fight with new promoter Golden Boy, and his third consecutive victory since losing his belts to Josh Taylor in May 2021.
Junior middleweight contender Vergil Ortiz Jr. defeated Thomas Dulorme by first-round KO Saturday night in Fresno, California. Ortiz (21-0, 21 KOs) landed a left hook to the body that sent Dulorme to the canvas 2:39 minutes into the round, and he was unable to get up. Ortiz will return on Aug. 3, to face former champion Tim Tszyu on the Terence Crawford-Israil Madrimov undercard.
