Thanks to the team at Modern Tyres for sharing their insights with AIB Chief Executive Colin Hunt, AIB UK Managing Director, Hilary Gormley, Head of NI Brian Gillan and Corporate Manager Mark McKeown. The Modern Tyres team gave a tour of their 100,000 square foot purpose-built premises in Carnbane Business Park, Newry, equipped with the latest in tyre and rim assembly equipment. Connor Byrne shared how working alongside his brothers Niall, Rory and Shane the business has expanded to become a successful all-island enterprise with over 300 staff, but customer service remains at the heart of this strong family-run business. “My dad, Jimmy Byrne started the company with one depot in 1965. Today we remain a family business run by his sons and grand-children and we’ve gone from strength to strength. We pride ourselves on delivering a top-class service whilst being a progressive company with a vision for the future. Like all businesses we’ve had ups and downs and it’s fair to say that AIB has been with us through the good days and the tougher days.” said Rory Byrne, Modern Tyres. AIB CEO Colin Hunt said “I was truly impressed. Rory and Connor from this family business shared both their history and vision for the future, with an energy that is contagious. I’m delighted that we can support them on their journey. Their dad and founder of Modern Tyres would be very proud, and rightly so.”

We're delighted to welcome the first bank to our Community Directory, AIB. If you're not familiar with it, the Community Directory is a section of our app listing businesses that are accessible to the Deaf community. Deaf customers visit the directory, tap who they want to call and are connected to a qualified British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter who relays the calls. The best part for customers? It's completely free of charge. Now Deaf customers can contact Allied Irish Bank (GB) and AIB (NI) for banking support like any other customer. This makes the whole process easier, more efficient, and most importantly, more secure as customers can deal with the bank directly. #DeafAccess #BSLInterpreting #Banking

Thanks to all those who attended our Mortgage Broker Breakfast held in Café Parisien Belfast. It was an incredibly insightful morning with an economic briefing from John Fahey, Senior Economist at AIB and a panel discussion on the mortgage market with our own Head of Retail Mortgages, Karen Kidd, who highlighted our ‘customer first’ approach to the homes journey, along with expert insight from Karen Scullion, Director at Point 2 Mortgages. We are extremely grateful to our special guest speaker, explorer Hannah Shields, who recapped her adventures with such perception and humour.

Over the past two weeks, to support our customers, we’ve been delighted to host a series of Industry and Business Leaders Economic Briefings in Dungannon, Ballymena, Derry, Enniskillen, Belfast and Newry. The events provided an excellent opportunity to hear an economic briefing from John Fahey, AIB’s Senior Economist. We also had an opportunity to hear from customers across NI about their businesses. The discussions were informative, robust and collaborative, thanks to all our customers who attended.
