Australian musical comedy..well done and funny at that..Also known as His Loyal Highness in the UK. From http://freeclassicflix.co.cc :Australian Tommy Dodd played by long time Australian vaudevillian and comic George Wallace takes a job in a theater after another fellow is fired so the other guy in retaliation knocks Tommy over the head and out then Tommy has a dream he’s been found to be the long lost king of fictional Bestonia. He doesn’t want the job, but begrudgingly takes it and rules in the most silly manner possible till the real king is finally found then Tommy wakes up back in the theater believing he is still the king.

This was not directed by the actor Frank W. Thring -- but by his father, with the same name (and the same middle initial).

Frank Thrings life was a TRUE fall from grace, he went from deing a VERY wealthy actor and celebrity, that had Hollywood stars at his birthday parties to a pennyless, alcoholic, tobacco-addicted, patient, dying of face cancer! ALONE!
he was no angel but no one deserves to end their life like that.
