Greater Manchester Easter 2024 bin collection changes and recycling centre opening times for bank holiday

Greater Manchester councils have announced their plans for rubbish collections and recycling centre opening times over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

With Good Friday and Easter Monday upon us, changes to waste and recycling pick up schedules are sometimes made. However, most town halls have stated that ‘it is business as usual’ for them. Manchester, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford have not reported any changes to their bin schedule.

The majority of people in the region will be able to enjoy the holiday period without the dreaded feeling of missing bin day. The only borough with changes to collections is Wigan where bin wagons came a day earlier than usual this week. However, bin schedules are going back to normal from Easter Monday, which is the week commencing April 1.

Over the Easter period, many people will take the opportunity to transport more bulky waste to one of the region’s 23 recycling centres. They are all open throughout the Bank Holiday period to welcome those wishing to do some household clearing up.
