A profile of the operations of Chinese multinationals in Africa

The presence of Chinese multinational corporations on the global stage is changing the landscape of international business and politics. Western firms, which once had virtually undisputed command over international resources, are now being challenged by emerging country corporations, particularly from China.

Dr Chris Alden lectures on International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science and is a research associate in the Department of Political Sciences, University of Pretoria. Dr Martyn Davies is director of the Centre for Chinese Studies at Stellenbosch University, CEO of consulting group Emerging Market Focus and a senior lecturer at the Cordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria.
