🌍 Earlier this week, Kenyan President H.E. Mr. William Samoei Ruto, PhD opened the Connected Africa Summit 2024 in Nairobi. With over 10 ICT ministers in attendance, the event signals Africa’s steadfast commitment to digital transformation.   The Estonian delegation at the summit is led by Ms. Mariin Ratnik, the Undersecretary for Economic Affairs and International Cooperation, who held a private discussion with Secretary General Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, MBS of Kenya's Ministry of Information, Communications, and Digital Economy. The key topics of their conversation included interoperability, policy frameworks, and digital skills development. In addition, Undersecretary Ratnik met with her dear friend H.E Emma Theofelus, Minister of Information and Communication Technology of Namibia. The two countries have worked on many projects in digitalisation including e-government road mapping and digital literacy. With one more day to go, it's already been a busy week for Estonia's delegation with numerous meetings, most notably one with Zambia's Minister of Technology and Science, Mr. Felix Mutati, encouraging partnerships in digital transformation and e-government. Selgem arusaam kehtivatest reeglitest toetab üleilmset, avatud, vaba, stabiilset ja turvalist küberruumi. Äsja käima lükatud projekti raames korraldatakse kolm regionaalset töötuba ning avaldatakse käsiraamat 📖, mille fookuses on toetada riike oma rahvusvahelise õiguse seisukohtade kujundamisel. Projektimeeskonnas on Exeteri ülikool, Chatham House mõttekoda, NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), Jaapani välisministeerium ning Eesti välisministeerium. 🚀 In collaboration with the Kaitseministeerium / Ministry of Defence of Estonia and the Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association (EKTL), we're pleased to share the success of the first Business Forum in #Kyiv that took place 3rd-4th of April. The forum funded by #NextGenerationEU, was first of a series and focused on defence sector. Led by Tiina Uudeberg, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, the Estonian-Ukraine defence forum presented various solutions to more than 110 representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, armed forces, research institutions, over 50 Ukrainian defence industry entrepreneurs and defence attaches from various embassies. In addition, the two-day forum saw over 30 bilateral meetings take place.   🤝 The highlight of the visit was the signing of a cooperation agreement between Estonian company DefSecIntel Solutions and a #Ukrainian counterpart, paving the way for large-scale FPV drone production in Estonia, ultimately enhancing the defence capabilities of both countries. "The interest shown in our products underline the high regard for Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry," remarked Jaanus Tamm, CEO of DefSecIntel Solutions and board member of EKTL. "This partnership will contribute to Ukraine's success while bolstering Estonia's competitiveness in the European defence and aerospace sector."   The Business Forum underscores the importance of international partnerships and highlights Estonia’s continuous support for Ukraine. As noted by Kalev Koidumäe, the CEO of EKTL, the visit fulfilled its purpose and gave Estonian companies the reassurance that their products and services are highly valued on the global market.
