A crowd of people are seen among Kawazu cherry trees in Kawazu, Shizuoka Prefecture, on Feb. 14, 2024. Early-blooming Kawazu cherry blossoms, which herald the forthcoming arrival of spring, are currently at their peak. Some 850 trees line about 4 kilometers of the Kawazu River, and many people were viewing the blossoms and taking pictures. A married couple visiting from Tokyo, both 38, smiled and said that they were happy to be able to feel spring with the cherry blossoms in full bloom. The Kawazu Cherry Blossoms Fes' will continue until Feb. 29, and the trees will be illuminated between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. daily.
