The diagnosis of cancer in pets is on the rise, attributed to their extended lifespans and the continuous advancements in veterinary healthcare. According to data from the Italian pet cancer registry, an alarming 150 per 100,000 dogs per year are affected by cancer. Extrapolating this to Europe, an estimated 130,000 dogs grapple with this formidable challenge annually. A recent extensive survey uncovered that cancer stands out as the foremost health concern for dog owners. The landscape of pet cancer varies regionally, shaped by factors like breed demographics, local veterinary practices, and cultural attitudes towards pet sterilization. For expert care tailored to the pet's unique needs, connect with us to discuss a personalized treatment journey. #CareForYourSenior #MarsPetcare #ABetterWorldForPets #AniCura #ShapingTheFutureOfVeterinaryCare

Senior pets do have specific needs ❗ Feline Diabetes Mellitus prevalence rises to 1%. This increase is likely linked to the growing number of overweight cats and the ageing feline population. While obesity remains a significant risk factor, the prevalence of diabetes surges in cats aged 6 years and older. Early diagnosis and proper treatment are imperative to prevent severe complications. Unfortunately, the impact of untreated diabetes is severe, with up to 30% of diagnosed cats facing euthanasia within a year. Our approach is centred on creating partnerships with pet owners and referring vets, building trust through genuine connections and creating alliances by emphasizing mutual goals. #CareForYourSenior #MarsPetcare #ABetterWorldForPets #AniCura #ShapingTheFutureOfVeterinaryCare

World Oral Health Day is celebrated every year on March 20th to spread awareness about oral health and its intricate link with overall health. Most dogs and cats will suffer from oral disease during their lives. Although reversible in the early stages, the consequences as it progresses are significant and without veterinary intervention, pain and tooth loss are inevitable. Dental procedures are very commonly performed in small animal general practice. For safe and effective dental treatment in dogs and cats, general anaesthesia is usually required. However, this can cause anxiety for the pet owner as these pets are often older and can have comorbidities compared to those undergoing other elective procedures. In dental procedures, general considerations for safe general anaesthesia are universally applicable. One crucial aspect is ensuring secure endovenous access for all patients before anaesthesia induction. This precaution, regardless of the expected procedure duration, is vital to handle any emergencies that may arise during the process. We prioritize patient safety from the first step. #MarsPetcare #ABetterWorldForPets #AniCura #ShapingTheFutureOfVeterinaryCare

📣 It's time to shine a spotlight on senior pets' special needs and the crucial role we play as veterinarians in ensuring their health and welfare in their golden years. 📌 We know that senior pets have specific needs since ageing can bring various changes in their health and well-being. Early recognition and treatment of these changes are crucial. If a senior pet presents a chronic illness or a medical condition that is challenging to manage, a specialist may have the specific knowledge to provide an in-depth evaluation and treatment. For complex geriatric cases or pets with multiple systemic issues, our specialists can provide a thorough evaluation and coordinate together a comprehensive treatment plan. #CareForYourSenior #MarsPetcare #ABetterWorldForPets #AniCura #ShapingTheFutureOfVeterinaryCare

With a prevalence of approximately 1.7%, similar to the human range (1-2%), it's a significant concern in veterinary ophthalmology ⚠. On-time referral and intervention thanks to early detection, plays a pivotal role.
