The Ministry of Defense has announced that about 50% of the Ukrainian troops in the unrecognized Republic of Crimea have defected to the Russian military.
Oleksandr Rozmaznin, the deputy chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Main Command Center, announced this at a news briefing.
"It is 50/50 in quantitative terms. That is, about 50% have switched," said Rozmaznin when asked about the number of Ukrainian troops that have defected to Russia.
At the same time, Rozmaznin said that some Ukrainian military units in Crimea had still not been captured, although he did not disclose their location.
In addition, the Defense Ministry said that the three Ukrainian ships blockaded in the Donuzlav Lake have not defected.
According to him, it is impossible for these ships to move into the open sea, but the Defense Ministry is not considering flooding the ships.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the National Security and Defense Council has instructed the Defense Ministry to relocate military units based in the Crimea.
