Yonhap News, South Korea's news hub, aims to become one of the world's top 10 global news agencies.

CEO's greeting

As South Korea's representative real-time news agency, Yonhap News Agency strives to promote the public's right to know by delivering fair, balanced and strictly fact-based news.

Designated as the nation's main news agency under the News Agency Promotion Act, Yonhap is committed to its public responsibility to protect information sovereignty and reduce information gaps. We produce news content 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through our extensive network at home and abroad.

Yonhap covers a broad range of Korean and international issues and provides content to more than 1,000 client organizations in South Korea. We also deliver news in six foreign languages -- English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Spanish and Arabic -- to 88 news agencies in 74 countries through news exchange arrangements.

Yonhap has long maintained exclusive news distribution contracts with North Korea's Korean Central News Agency and Rodong Sinmun and is providing the fastest and most accurate news on North Korea to media companies. We expect to play a positive role in promoting denuclearization and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula following the April 27 inter-Korean summit at Panmunjom.

Yonhap hopes to serve as a driving force in ushering in the new era of a unified Korea. As part of such efforts, we organize the annual Yonhap Forum on the Unification of the Korean Peninsula and promote inter-Korean media exchanges. We anticipate that some day we will be able to deliver news from a Pyongyang branch.

Yonhap aspires to be a paragon of trusted media and fair reporting. We promise to strive unwaveringly to meet the people's expectations and gain their confidence by faithfully fulfilling our role as the nation's key newswire.
