The above quote sounds all very Alice-in-Wonderland'ish but it was taken from a website entitled 'Depression, Suicide & Self-Injury Quotes'. And it startled me out of an assumption I have long held to be the truth. The basic assumption is that the person who continues to choose the hard road through life actually sees an alternative-that there are two roads, not just one. In relation to depression or any maladaptive behaviour which continues to hold sway over a person's life long past the time when that behaviour had value and relevance, I have come to believe there is choice involved. Sometimes the ability to choose is buried way down deep or hidden way back in the dim mists of our past. Over time we may come to believe we have lost the freedom to choose because a particular action or emotional state has become so much an integral part of our being. Life continues to surprise me. For which I am eternally grateful, as there was a time when my mind was so totally closed against any notion of unexpectedness or unpredictability, any possibility of life-being-any-other-way, it both frightens and amuses me to look back on it now. But I also have a greater empathy and understanding for that long-ago depressed self than I had at the time. I now see shutting down and shutting off from the world as a natural response to the death of my mother, the person I loved most in the world, rather than an abnormal reaction. The source of my surprise-a graph presented at a workshop on grief-in itself, surprises me. Having long since given up on the validity of statistics-as Mark Twain famously noted, 'There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics'-it was enlightening to see the wave-like shape of grief over time. Anyone who has experienced grief will recognise that it comes in waves. We even speak of waves of emotion but to see something represented visually is always far more effective than having only the verbal description. The presenter of the workshop stated that over the first 12-13 month period-that first year after someone we love has died in which we have birthdays, anniversaries, holidays without that person in our lives-we always experience grief at a 100% level. We may expect our grief to diminish after a set period of time and when it is still at the same level after 6 months or 12 months, when a song or a scent or a visual reminder sends us back to that initial high level of loss and sadness, we may begin to think there is something wrong with us. Being able to see the shape of these waves-the peaks wide and close together at the beginning, narrower and further apart as time progresses-was an Aha! moment for me, an 'of course, how could it be otherwise' dawning of comprehension. It's that deeper understanding that comes via images as opposed to words. It's why I view the combination of image plus language as being so powerful. To draw a picture of something as ephemeral as an emotion gives us another tool with which to change an entrenched behaviour, to choose one road over another. These days, I see Depression as a place. Literally. It's a town I used to live in for a period of my life. And as a traveller for many years, I know that to get to any destination you have to travel a certain path, take steps along that road and there are signposts on the way that tell you where in your journey you now are. The more conscious I become, the more mindful of the connection between my internal world and my external reality, the more often I take responsibility for stayin' the hell outta that town called Depression. The more images and metaphors I develop, the more concrete I make my internal world and its emotional territory, the more easily I navigate the tricky bits. All of this means that I am able to take back my life as mine and hold it as the precious possession it is. This is a narrative inquiry about the implementation of creativity, creative risk taking and productive failure in six international contexts. There are many insights offered for the implemntatiojn fo creatvity, risk taking and productive failure in educational context.

Creative problem solving (CPS) emerged as a critical soft skill for students, yet the evaluation and effectiveness of the CPS methods is not fully understood. This study examined the ideation effectiveness of junior design students. Students are asked to ideate for a complex challenge, a 1000floor elevator in two phases, with a morphological analysis (MA) method introduced to them as an intervention after the first phase. This study evaluated the effectiveness of the MA method in the students' ideation process and their creative thinking by using four measures of novelty, quality, quantity, and variety using the quantitative and qualitative methods. The result of this study supports the positive impact of MA method in CPS process. Similar challenges to the 1000-floor challenge are recommended for the early sessions of design thinking courses to inform educators about students' creativity performance. Further, the quantitative assessment method of this study may be applied to assess the other CPS methods in design thinking courses.

Ad hoc networks are characterized by the lack of a fixed infrastructure and the dynamic nature which affects several security properties. This paper adapts the concept of PKI so that it fits with the requirements of wireless ad hoc networks. Furthermore, a protocol for authenticating nodes in multi hop ad hoc networks is discussed.

This article is concerned primarily with what constitutes the need to innovate and how it comes about in real world scenarios. I then discuss the teaching of lighting and some of the methods I had discovered to reveal the sensibility required by people entering not only theatre film and television industries, but also those who are involved in academic transmission. Lastly I conclude by appreciating two great Spanish innovators in theatre and film from the last century to try to bring together some of the ideas within the paper which centre around the complex relationship between practice and theory.

The book "Worlds To Be Continued. Analysing Possibilities of Serial Narrativity" (in Czech "Světy na pokračování. Rozbor možností seriálového vyprávění") is built upon the assumption that fictional stories presented as serials have been a longstanding part of nearly everyday experience with narrative arts; capitalizing on the case of TV shows, it presents the intellectual framework, research background and analytical tools to effectively describe, explore and explain serial fiction.

The approach is theoretically grounded in serial fiction poetics, which aims to (1) present a systemic explanation of serial fiction, (2) capture a variability of artistic possibilities of serial narrative and, (3) offer tools for the analysis of actual serial works.

The original concept of seriality serves as foundation for the first and second aims; it remains as mere background for analytical hypotheses with regard to the third aim. Serial fiction poetics, as presented here, assumes the presence of a space-time continuum, which is created by the work through interaction with its audience. This is process is termed a fictional macroworld: narrated stories take place within its conditions and settings. Each episode of a serial constitutes an episodic world; seriality denotes a relationship between the state of affairs in a macroworld at the end of a current episode and the state of affairs in the macroworld at the end of the previous one. Depending on the intensity of connectedness between these two states and the relations of fictional characters to them, the book presents a typology of seriality, which serves as a functional and heuristic categorization, yet not as a substantive one.

(1) In the case of a separate seriality type, no fictional characters share the state of affairs at the end of the current episode with the state of affairs at the end of the previous one (e.g. The Twilight Zone, 1959-1964).
(2) In the case of a non-sequential seriality type, the current episode shares at least one fictional character with the state of the macroworld at the end of the previous one, without any open connection between these episodic worlds on the level of narrative causality (e.g. Columbo, 1968-2003).
(3) In the case of a semisequential seriality type, episodic worlds represent rather closed narrative units but they include at least one causal line of events, which continues in the state of affairs in the following episode (e.g. most of House, M.D., 2004-2012).
(4) In the case of a sequential seriality type, there are prevalent causal connections among episodic worlds on various levels (e.g. most of Dallas, 1978-1991; Pride and Prejudice, 1995; Stranger Things, 2016-?).
(5) Lastly, in the case of a disrupted seriality type, the standing linear composition of episodic worlds is problematized; instead of a line, it creates a network of relations among fictional elements in both states of affairs in a macroworld, where the currently valid state of affairs in a macroworld is being rewritten or retrospectively changed (e.g. Arabela, 1980-1981; Day Break, 2006; Lost, 2004-2010).

Worlds To Be Continued is divided into three parts, which are all based on analyses of a sample of roughly four hundred television serials from various countries and times.

1. SERIALITY AS A SYSTEM

The first part of the book gives a systemic explanation of seriality, using the five types top-down, and in these contexts, it describes ways of mediating information (a narrative outline) and issues of identifying fictional entities across episodes (a fictional macroworld arrangement). Both aspects turned out to be functionally related, and they expose a logic of an inner composition of seriality as a specific kind of fictional representation. The first part stands for a theoretical-descriptive dimension of the serial fiction poetics. It deals with relationships of seriality within a theoretical frame and, while considering its systemic transformations, it aims at a clarity of explanations.

2. SERIALITY AS A REGISTRY OF POSSIBILITIES

The second part of the book explores variable possibilities of serial narrative. It approaches the types of seriality from its material, bottom-up, as it explores preferred registries of artistic solutions both within the types of seriality and in the crime serial as a mode of fictional worldmaking. In these contexts, it studies (1) narrative process through an original question-based model of the analysis of a work, one which is not based on knowledge of a whole work, as in various other narratological concepts, because knowledge of this kind cannot be assumed in case of a serial work. The second part further focuses on (2) a fictional macroworld dynamics, which it explains through an original composite model, understanding a fictional macroworld as a dynamic interaction between various areas of a macroworld (microworlds and subworlds); this dynamics can be utilized to explain its happening. The second part of the book stands for a descriptive-analytical dimension of the serial fiction poetics. It deals with the art of seriality in a creative frame, explores registries of preferred artistic solutions, and aims at a productive depiction of a field of possibilities.

3. SERIALITY AS ANALYTICAL BACKGROUND

It was deemed necessary in the last, analytical part of the book to limit the range of types of seriality considered appropriate for research interest. Despite the descriptive potential of the typology, it represents a limiting set of categories for a dynamic analysis, disregarding the fact that one serial work often uses various types of seriality in a variety of patterns (e.g. Doctor Who, 1963-1988; The X Files, 1993-2016). What is specifically focused upon in the third part of the book are those tools which have so far constituted the basis for an analytical framework (narrative outline, fictional macroworld arrangement, question-based model of a narrative process, and composite model of macroworld dynamics) or its auxiliary categories (a cultural encyclopaedia, immersive spectatorship, and analytical spectatorship). The last two chapters attempt to offer the greatest possible degree of aesthetic sensitivity towards those works analysed and those explanations presented. An analysis of the serial 24 (2001-2010) explores tactics applied to achieve clarity and coherence within a very diverse system of narrative situates the work in the contexts of complex serials and those of action films of motion. The closing analysis of Mr. Bean (1989-1995) as a serial addresses the more general question of how can we systemically analyse the narrative and macroworld of serials that seemingly consist of a number of rather independent sketches. The third part of the book considers the analytical dimension of serial fiction poetics. It explores issues related to the explanatory potential of analyses of individual serial works within an aesthetic frame and aims at a maximum degree of adaptability in relation to the artistic uniqueness of these works.

The three parts of Worlds To Be Continued develop and transform, with respect to these three aims, which differ from each other but are also interrelated, only to answer the questions posed, in correspondence with the individual dimensions of serial fiction poetics, in ways that are at the same time systematic and aesthetically sensitive.

Standart terapinin detaylı bir şekilde tanıtımından sonra bunun adaptasyonunun neden gerekli olduğu, adapte etmenin mantığı mevcut kanıtlar ile sunulur. Daha sonra, tedavi öncesi ve başlangıç oturumlarından tedaviyi sonlandırmaya kadar olan süreç aşama aşama ele alınır. Nüksetmeyi önleme kısmına değinilir. Son olarak kapsamlı vaka örnekleri ile anlatılanların sağlam temeller üzerine oturması sağlanır.
Amacına uygun şekilde düzenlen bu kitap, diyalektik davranış terapisi adapte edilirken belirli sınırlar çizmek yerine okuyucuya geliştirilebilir bir zemin hazırlar. Bu yönüyle tedaviyi uygulamaya ve geliştirmeye teşvik eder. Açıklayıcı vaka örnekleri ve kanıtlar ile tedaviyi tüm ayrıntılarıyla sunarak farklı alanlardan okuyuculara hitap eden bu titiz çalışma özellikle alandaki uzmanlara klinik psikologlara, danışmanlara ve araştırmacılar için bir rehber niteliğinde olacak niteliktedir.

The Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood, Victoria, housing Austra-lia's first community court, has used its legislative mandate to develop a number of innovative programs. This article describes one such innovation, the Problem Solving Process, that has conceptual underpinnings in therapeutic jurisprudence, restorative justice and procedural justice, but also draws on group-work processes and social support theory. It specifically assists accused persons in criminal cases who have complex presentations and offers them the opportunity to participate in a facilitated meeting that occurs outside the courtroom. Participation is voluntary and the outcomes are taken into consideration by the magistrate upon return of the matter to court. Outcomes are also used to inform deferred sentences and judicial monitoring reviews under community correction orders. It is an adaptable process that has many benefits to the offender, the court and the community.

La maggior parte di chi usa la rete, per lavoro o per hobby, dimostra infatti di non possedere ancora quelle abilità necessarie a padroneggiare gli strumenti per l'information retrieval ma, soprattutto, manca delle giuste procedure per focalizzare l’oggetto della ricerca e per selezionare e valutare i risultati ottenuti. Questo lavoro offre un modello di strategia di ricerca, il più possibile “scientifico” anche se non esaustivo, attraverso gli strumenti online: come si struttura una ricerca, come scegliere gli strumenti più adeguati, come valutare i risultati in termini di qualità ed attendibilità.

This chapter focuses on environments that support the fostering of SDML. This research drew on constructionism as theoretical lens and its implementation by means of microworlds. The aim of this chapter is to determine what features of microworlds enable them to be supportive multimodal learning environments for SDL. The design features of selected microworlds are investigated, focusing on the requirements of SDL, problem-solving, opportunities for collaboration and the specific resources available to
students and facilitators. The qualitative study that this chapter is based on was completed from within a pragmatist paradigm and involved document analyses and multimodal content analyses to do an exploratory evaluation of the selected microworlds. The exploratory evaluation focused on the creation of a rubric for evaluation of the features of microworlds. Specific aspects in the selected microworlds were identified that can potentially support SDML.

Creative problem solving (CPS) requires solutions to be useful and original. Typically, its operations span problem finding, idea generation, and critical evaluation. The benefits of training CPS have been extolled in education, industry, and government with evidence showing it can enhance performance. However, although such training schemes work, less is known about the specific tools used. Knowing whether a particular tool works or not would provide practitioners with a valuable resource, leading to more effective training schemes, and a better understanding of the processes involved. A comprehensive review was undertaken examining the empirical support of tools used within CPS. Despite the surprising lack of research focusing on the use and success of specific tools, some evidence exists to support the effectiveness of a small set. Such findings present practitioners with a potential resource that could be used in a stand-alone setting or possibly be combined to create more effective training programs.

Creative people have rapid and effective responses that help them to achieve their life goals and allow them to enjoy the journey. Creativity is both a skill set and a unique and individual personality structure that is developed throughout childhood and fine tuned in adolescence and adulthood. Education has a key role to play in its development. Positive creativity inspiring experiences at every stage of the educational journey are needed. This is especially true in both early childhood and the infant primary classes. Educators who rise to the creativity challenge will be well rewarded in rich teaching experiences and the joy of seeing children reach their creative potential in supportive and integrated learning systems.

This paper was written based on Smile Milk rebranding project. The practice-based research approach was conducted to generate a rebranding proposal (for a logo and identity design). Two faculty members from Faculty of Communication Arts were invited to work with CHULA UNISEARCH for a period of four months (September to November 2014). Throughout the research period, the rebranding proposal focus on the new logo and identity design were proposed. Based on “The Design Process” framework, the design process for the new logo and identity design will be analyzed and discussed. It is hoped that this paper will provide insights into an understanding of logo and identity design process under the scope of rebranding and visual communication.

The natural evolution of STEM classes and the material sciences as well as the human predisposition to financial, material, and economic subjects, sometimes leaves the arts and study of creativity  on the sideline of priorities.  This text supports the need to learn problem solving and the "composition" process of artists and the mindset embodied in the arts (specifically music as a model) as being essential to all disciplines and learning goals.

Problems related to creativity gain importance among people and institutions indirectly or directly involved in the processes of regional development dynamics. Among those interested in the discussed problems the following can be listed: local authorities, entrepreneurs, scientists, non-governmental organizations, artists or culture animators. The presented study analyses problems referring to the selected factors influencing regional creativity. It should be emphasized that regional creativity, in this case, is understood as human activity, creative behaviours, or innovative ideas of regional space users. The subject literature analysis and review were the research methods applied by the author. The introduction outlines theoretical aspects of creativity and regional development. The major part of the study takes the form of a summary and characteristics of regional creativity factors, among which the following can be listed: creative class development, regional identity level, the development of creative sectors, effective place marketing, culture-based creativity, human talents, tolerance level, innovation, the level of entrepreneurship, public administration quality or the implementation of regional development strategy. Moreover, creativity is pointed to as one of the leading paths responsible for an innovative approach to regional development.
