Investors perception

This paper investigates the attitude of investors in trichy derivatives markets. The study focus on investors’ attitude in their investment practices. We attempt to identify and analyse the key factors that capture their attitude in derivatives markets. The data were collected from 200 respondents via a questionnaire survey. Chi square analysis was employed to analyse the data, and some interesting findings were obtained. This study reveals that the respondents are aware of derivatives.

Investors’ primary goal is to increase their wealth. For long term wealth creation, stocks and gold are inevitable components of the investment portfolio. Generally
individual investors have certain behavioral tendencies that affect their investment decisions and portfolio returns as a result. There has been a lot of research
interest around this topic in the recent years. Many people invest in stocks but not all have the skills or the expertise to evaluate which stocks are good and which
are not. Therefore, they rely on some cognitive and emotional decision-making methods to make a suitable investment decision for them. Gold investment is also
guided by the traditions and customs rather than a rational and sound investment decision. This research paper mainly focuses on the factors that affect the
individual investors’ investment decision making process for stocks and gold and eventually affect the portfolio performance. The investors’ preferences and behavior
have been analyzed with the help of descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U Test and Principal Component Analysis statistical tools.

Mutual funds have opened new vistas to millions of investors by virtually taking investment to their doorstep. In India, retail
investors in general rely on the information which neither provides hedge against inflation nor have positive real returns. He finds himself to
be an odd man out in the investment game. Mutual funds have come, as a much needed help to these investors. Thus, the success of mutual
funds is in essence the outcome of the collective endeavors of proficient fund managers and vigilant investors. Therefore, in the present
circumstances, it is imperative to recognize the requirements of mutual funds investors along with their inclination for mutual funds schemes
and their performance evaluation. This research study has an objective to analyze the perception of investors towards mutual funds as an
investment avenue. The survey is undertaken on 100 educated investors of Delhi/NCR and the findings revealed that the major factors that
influence buying behavior of mutual funds investors are fund characteristics, creditability, convenience, success factors, and fund family. The study will be enormously valuable for academicians, AMC's, brokers, distributors and other potential investors.

Stock market has become an attractive investment avenue for most of the investors, and stock market has enormously grown over the years. But lot of investors fear to invest in stock market due to the volatility often seen in share market. The risk often undertaken by the investors in share market huge and there exist fear among the investors of losing their hard-earned income. Even though the return, the investors receive in stock market is high, the investors need to bear an equal amount of risk as well as moreover the investors must sure of which investment avenue, they are selecting in order to ensure high returns. This study was undertaken to understand the different personal factors affecting their investment decision and the different factors influencing various categories of investment. The was also conducted to know the source of investors awareness regarding stock market. Questionnaire and personal interview of the investors was conducted to understand the view point, behavior and attitude of the investors as well as their level of awareness. Chi square test was used as a tool to arrive at a decision regarding the association between the two variables. It was that there are many factors influencing the investor's decision such as risk return, tax benefits, maturity period, capital appreciation and safety of principal. But majority of the investors believed returns is the most important factor influencing their decision. The highest number of investors preferred to invest in stocks, when compared to mutual funds and derivatives. The study also revealed that majority of the investors took their own decision to invest, whereas some of the investors were influenced by Workshops, Seminars, Advertisements and newspapers. Thus, study attempted to learn the behavior of the investors towards stock market.
