Architectural Education is a combination of myriad exposures, factual learning, cognitive endeavors and corrective guidance by esteemed faculties. In this age of technical and electronic revolution, the student just needs a small light to flare to a beacon. He has technology at the flick of a button and global knowledge at his fingertips. A student has a particular approach to design thinking or the creative process. Often these approaches are linked to his learning and thinking style. Learning styles is his preferred method to receive information. Design approach also showcases his thinking style. A thinking style is his preferred way to process the information he receives. However varied the experiences and backgrounds of architecture students may be, their thinking styles may match according to the nature of the design project. Hence thinking styles and learning styles may /may not be linked but they are definitely linked to their individual design processes.

This Paper sets out to explore how the learning and thinking styles of individual effects his/her design process in the architecture studio. Firstly, the Honey and Mumford learning style questionnaire( for Activists, reflectors, Pragmatists and Theorists) was tested on a random sampling of 10 students each from the first, second and third years of B.Arch. at Jamia Millia Islamia ( Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics, New Delhi) and a comparison was drawn amongst the freshmen and seniors.  Secondly, the Shortened Version of the Sternberg thinking styles Inventory (40 ques) for functions (Legislative, executive, Judicial) and levels (global and local) of thinking styles, was conducted on these students. The current on-going design Problem was extensively studied and mapped onto these learning and thinking styles tests, using Rasmussen design process. The performance of the students was correlated with their learning and thinking abilities and a satisfactory conclusion was drawn.  Further, a studio pedagogical approach is defined to accommodate the various learning and thinking styles in the architecture design studio. It is hoped that by knowing how our students think and learn, educators and professors are able to conduct their studios far better than by assumptions.

Araştırmanın temel amacı; sınıf öğretmenlerinin derste öğrencileriyle göz teması
kurma davranışlarını ve bu davranışları hakkındaki görüşlerini, meslekî kıdemlerine,
cinsiyetlerine, algısal öğrenme stillerine ve öğrencilerinin akademik başarı düzeyleri
ile cinsiyetlerine göre incelemektir. Kıdem değişkenine göre odaklanma süresi anlamlı
olarak farklılaşmaktadır (p=0,039). Ancak, odaklanma sayısı kıdeme göre anlamlı
bir farklılık göstermemektedir (p=0,336). Başka bir anlatımla, sınıf öğretmenlerinin
kıdemi, odaklanma süresini anlamlı düzeyde etkileyen bir faktörken, odaklanma
sayısını anlamlı düzeyde etkileyen bir faktör olmadığı söylenebilir. Öğretmenlerin
öğrenme stilleri değişkenine göre odaklanma süresi anlamlı olarak farklılaşmaktadır
(p=0,004). Ancak, odaklanma sayısı öğretmenlerin öğrenme stillerine göre anlamlı
bir farklılık göstermemektedir (p=0,199). Öğrenci odaklanma süresi (p=0,031) ve
odaklanma sayısı (p=0,022) öğrenci not ortalaması değişkenine göre anlamlı bir
farklılık göstermektedir. Son olarak araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre
öğretmenlerin büyük çoğunluğunun derste öğrencileriyle gerçekleştirdikleri göz
teması kurma davranışları ile öğrencilerin akademik başarı düzeyleri arasında ilişki
ve etkileşimi olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu araştırma sonucunda, öğretmenlerin hem kendileri hem de her bir öğrencinin
algısal öğrenme tercihini tespit etmesi ve bu tercihlere göre göz teması kurma
davranışını yönetmeye çalışması önerilebilir.

Analysing Theacher’s Eye-Contact Behaviours of Nonverbal Communication Based on Some Variables
The main objective of the present study is to analyze eye contact behaviors of classroom teachers during the class and their opinions about such behaviors of them based on their professional seniority, gender, perceptional learning styles and level of academic achievement of their students. There is a statistically significant difference in focusing time based on the seniority variable (p=0,039). However, there is no statistically significant difference in the number of focusing based on the seniority variable. (p=0,336). There is a statistically significant difference in focusing time based on the teachers’ learning styles variable (p=0,004). However, there is no statistically significant difference in the number of focusing based on the teachers’ learning styles (p=0,199). There is a statistically significant difference in focusing time (p=0,031) and number of focusing (p=0,022) the mean score of students shows a significant difference. Finally, according to the findings of the research, it is seen that the majority of the teachers think that the eye-building behaviors performed by the students are the relationship and interaction between the students’ academic achievement levels. As a result of this research, it may be advisable for teachers to identify perceptual learning preferences for themselves and for each student, and to try to manage the behavior of eye contact according to these preferences.

Bu kitap; duygusal ve davranışsal bozukluklara sahip öğrenciler hakkında bilgi sahibi olmak isteyen sınıf öğretmenleri, özel eğitim öğretmenleri ve alanda çalışan uzmanlar için hazırlanmış giriş niteliğinde bir uygulama kitabıdır. Her bir bozukluğun nedeni, tanımlanması, güncel araştırmalar ışığında verilmeye çalışılmış ve okul ortamındaki pratik uygulamalarla da anlatım zenginleştirilmiştir. Bunlara ek olarak belirli bir bozukluğun tüm yönlerine ilişkin temel yaklaşımla birlikte bilimsel olarak geliştirilmiş müdahele yöntemleri de verilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Bu kitabın alanda yeni çalışmaya başlayan öğretmenler kadar güncel verilerle desteklenen tanı koyma ve müdahele stratejilrine önem vermesi nedeniyle alanda uzun süredir çalışmakta olan öğretmenlere ve uzmanlara da yararlı olacağını düşünmekteyiz.

Araştırmanın temel amacı; sınıf öğretmenlerinin derste öğrencileriyle göz teması kurma davranışlarını ve bu davranışları hakkındaki görüşlerini, meslekî kıdemlerine, cinsiyetlerine, algısal öğrenme stillerine ve öğrencilerinin akademik başarı düzeyleri ile cinsiyetlerine göre incelemektir. Bu temel amaç doğrultusunda araştırmanın ilk iki bölümünde eğitim ve iletişim literatürü çerçevesinde araştırmanın problem durumu ve kuramsal çerçevesi tanımlanmış, sözsüz iletişim becerileri ile algısal öğrenme stilleri kapsamında araştırmanın temel kavramları teorik düzeyde incelenmiştir. Ayrıca araştırma kapsamında, veri toplama yöntemi olarak kullanılan göz izleme sistemi ve teknolojileri hakkında bilgiler verildikten sonra, farklı bilim alanlarında yapılan göz izleme çalışmalarının sonuçlarına göre; öğretmenlerle öğrenciler arasında gerçekleşen göz teması kurma davranışlarının bu yöntemle ölçümlenip ölçümlenemeyeceği tartışılmıştır. Araştırmanın yönteminin anlatıldığı üçüncü bölümde, öncelikle araştırmanın modeli, değişkenleri, çalışma grubu, veri toplama yöntemleri ve araçları, sınırlılıkları, veri analiz süreçleri anlatılmıştır. Araştırmanın dördüncü bölümünde ise, araştırma kapsamında yapılan göz izleme testi ve diğer veri toplama yöntemleriyle ulaşılan bulgular, öncelikle öğretmenlerin göz teması kurma davranışları, daha sonra ise bu davranışları hakkındaki görüşleri kapsamında iki başlık altında anlatılarak yorumlanmıştır. Son olarak araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre öğretmenlerin göz teması kurma davranışlarını geliştirmeye yararlı olabilecek ve gelecekte aynı konuda yapılacak araştırmalara ışık tutacak önerilerde bulunulmuştur. ANALYSING EYE CONTACT BEHAVIOURS OF CLASSROOM TEACHERS BASED ON SOME VARIABLES The main objective of the present study is to analyze eye contact behaviors of classroom teachers during the class and their opinions about such behaviors of them based on their professional seniority, gender, perceptional learning styles and level of academic achievement of their students. In line with this primary objective, the problem situation and the theoretical framework of the study is defined under the educational and communication literature in the first two chapters of the study, and then the main concepts of the study are analyzed in a theoretical level under the non-verbal communication skills and perceptional learning styles. In addition, upon giving information on the eye tracking system and technologies used as a data collection method, whether the eye contact behaviors between teachers and students can be measured through this method is discussed based on the results of the eye tracking studies conducted in different scientific disciplines. In the third chapter of the study where the method used is discussed, primarily the model, variables, work group, data collection methods, data collection tools, restrictions, data analysis of the study are described. In the forth chapter of the study, the findings obtained through the eye tracking test performed under the study and other data collection methods are interpreted in two headings: firstly, eye contact behaviors of teachers, and secondly, their opinions about such behaviours of them. There is a statistically signifant difference in focusing time based on the seniority variable (p=0,039). However, there is no statistically significant difference in the number of focusing based on the seniority variable. (p=0,336). In other words, while the seniority of the classroom teachers affects the focusing time significantly, it is possible to say that it does not affect the number of focusing significantly. There is a statistically significant difference in focusing time based on the teachers' learning styles variable (p=0,004). However, there is no statististically significant difference in the number of focusing based on the teachers' learning styles (p=0,199). In other words, while the classroom teacher's learning styles variable is a factor that affects the focusing time significantly, it is possible to say that it is a factor that does not affect the number of focusing significantly. There is a statistically significant difference in focusing time (p=0,031) and number of focusing (p=0,022) based on the students' grade point average variable. In other words, students' grade-point average is a factor that significantly affects the focusing time and number of focusing of the students. In the fifth and final chapter of the study, it reveals that there is a statistically significant relation between the eye contact behaviours, professional seniority and percentional learning styles of teachers, and academic achievement of students. However, it is found that teachers' gender variable and students' gender variable do not have a descriptive influence on the eye contact behaviours of the teachers. Consequently, according to the findings obtained at the end of the study, recommendations are made that would help improve the eye contact behaviors of the teachers and shed light on the future studies on the same issue.

This session highlights The Check-in Check-out mentoring program, which has been found to be effective in decreasing students' disruptive behavior and increasing academic achievement. This research-based intervention provides support for students who are at-risk of dropping out. Results indicated that participants were able to increase accurate completion of the checklist and two out of three participates showed an increase in class grades. All of the participants had significant decreases in school disciplinary actions.

Abstract:- Theory of learning styles is steadily evolving in several decades and reveals importance of such styles for construction and adoption of adaptive e-learning platforms. Courseware delivery adaptive to learning styles needs precise definition of types of learning objects most appropriate for individual given learning character with its specific learning style. The present article provides results of a case study of courseware delivery of various types of learning objects such tasks, projects, essays, games and intermediate tests with adaption based on learning styles. It presents evaluation of dependability of learning object types on the styles of learning defined by Honey and Mumford and shows how practical results may differ from expected ones for some of the cases.

This paper describes the use of adaptation patterns in the task of formulating standards for adaptive educational hypermedia (AEH) systems that is currently under investigation by the EU ADAPT project. Within this project, design dimensions for high granularity patterns have been established. In this paper we focus on detailing lower granularity adaptive patterns based upon learning styles. Several patterns from existing AEH system case studies are identified and classified according to an extended learning style "onion" model. This model forms the basis of a learning style taxonomy, introduced here, whose components determine adaptation patterns for AEH. These patterns are of importance both for authoring, as well as for interfacing between adaptive hypermedia systems. From an authoring point of view, these patterns may be used to establish a fine-grain approach to instructional strategies that can be implemented in AEH systems, as a response to a particular learning style. The implementation of this adaptation pattern taxonomy is discussed, both generally and in detail.

Identifying the individual differences of students in terms of learning style preference would help them achieve better potential as they go along with their journey in finishing their respective degree programs in college. This study aimed to determine the learning style of the Marine Engineering students in a private Asian university in terms of environmental elements as to facilities, sound, light, temperature and design and to compare the learning styles of high and low performing students. Descriptive type of research was utilized in the study. Results showed that High performing students significantly differ in going to the library and the use of Power Point and they need to be in the quiet place when learning while low performing students can learn the lessons even with the some kind of sounds in the surroundings. Both groups can highly work on lights which depend on what is being done and low performing prefer to always work in a low light compared to high performing students. High performing students can best learn new things in a more formal design of environment compared to low performing students.

The status of learning styles theory in educational studies is uncertain as we inhabit the liminal phase between the theory's death as proclaimed by educational psychologists who avow to have disproven it and whatever afterlife will follow. At this moment, with both past and future in view, that we have an opportunity to reflect on the foundational assumptions of the theory. Engaging in the growing community of Agambenian philosophy of education and the ongoing dialogue around educational potentiality, this article approaches learning styles theory as a paradigm of educational Megarianism. In this frame, the error of the learning styles theorists was not in the construction of a particular typology, but in the metaphysical approach to pedagogy. The reflection upon learning styles as paradigm also contributes a paradigmatic case of educational Megarianism to the discussion of potentiality in Agambenian philosophy of education. Numerous empirical findings relevant for self-regulation research can be related to functional self-regulation patterns (proactive and defensive) and a dysfunctional pattern (depressive absence of self-regulation efforts). The first two patterns are in accordance with numerous empirical findings coming from the fields of cognitive, social and educational psychology, including concepts such as promotion vs. prevention focus and mastery or learning mode vs. coping or well-being mode. These patterns can be supplemented with a depressive pattern indicating self-defeating cognitions and strategies, absence of motivation and self-regulatory efforts. The empirical part of this study is focused on self-regulated learning and relationships between cognitive beliefs, motivational beliefs and self-regulation strategies. Croatian upper elementary students (N  =  460; age 11–14 years) participated in this investigation. Self-reports were gathered by self-regulated learning components scale. The factor analysis of self-regulation components supported the theoretical distinction between the proactive and defensive self-regulation patterns. The results were interpreted in the context of previous research findings. Further research needs to address the question of specific self-regulation failures (the depressive pattern) in samples that include larger proportion of poorly adapted and under-achieving students.

As a college student, it is important for you to know how you best learn and in what setting you best process academic information. College student's MBTI® test personality type differ in behavior,  and each college student's Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® Type differs as much in learning style.

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo principal determinar la relación entre la
calidad de sueño y los estilos de aprendizaje en estudiantes de arquitectura de la Universidad
Nacional de Ingeniería, Rímac, 2019. El método se realizó bajo el enfoque cuantitativo,
diseño no experimental de corte transversal y descriptivo-correlacional, y método hipotético-deductivo. La población censal estuvo conformada por 80 estudiantes de arquitectura de la
Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, del nivel de pregrado. Se les aplicó dos cuestionarios,
el primero para la calidad de sueño, y el segundo para los estilos de aprendizaje; ambos
siendo estandarizados, fueron validados y resultaron confiables para su aplicación. Las
teorías abordadas para cada variable, pertenecen a los autores Buysse et. ál., y Fleming y
Mills, respectivamente. Los resultados obtenidos evidencian que, existe una relación alta
entre la calidad de sueño y los estilos de aprendizaje (Rho=0,782), y una relación alta entre
la calidad de sueño y las dimensiones estilo de aprendizaje visual (Rho=0,731), estilo de
aprendizaje auditivo (Rho=0,714), estilo de aprendizaje lectoescritor (Rho=0,765), y una
relación moderada con el estilo de aprendizaje cinestésico (Rho=0,649). Por lo tanto, se
probó la hipótesis planteada. Se concluyó que, a mayor calidad de sueño mejoran
significativamente los estilos de aprendizaje en estudiantes de arquitectura, cuando ellos
duermen de 8 a 10 horas, según lo sugerido por la National Sleep Foundation. Casi la mitad
de los encuestados presenta un nivel alto para las dos variables (48,8% y 45%,
respectivamente); y tienen alta preferencia por los estilos visual (51,3%), auditivo (53,8%),
lectoescritor (38,8%), y moderada preferencia por el estilo cinestésico (42,5%). Se
recomendó que la Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería debe diseñar un programa médico de
calidad de sueño, que permitirá mejorar los estilos de aprendizaje de los estudiantes de
arquitectura, y que los docentes deben ajustar sus métodos de enseñanza a los estilos de
aprendizaje visual (diagramas, graficas, colores, cuadros, y textos escritos), auditivo
(debates, audios, seminarios, música, y videos), lectoescritor (libros, lecturas, apuntes,
ensayos, y bibliografías) y cinestésico (ejemplos de vida, demostraciones, actividad física,
construcciones, y juegos de roles).

Mixed research method was used in this study to investigate and compare the learning styles of science students and the lecturer’s teaching styles in Yemen. Quantitative data were collected from 179 students using a survey questionnaire while qualitative data were collected from 50 lecturers using observation checklist and videotaped classroom sessions. The quantitative data were coded and analyzed using descriptive statistics via SPSS software while observation and videotaped classroom sessions were used to triangulate the results. Research findings showed that the auditory and visual styles were more prevalent among the lecturers who adopted mainly lecturer-fronted, chalk-and-talk teaching approach while the students preferred kinaesthetic and tactile learning styles which were supported by previous literature to be more suited for science classes. The result explicitly highlighted the implications of teaching science in tertiary institutions in Yemen.

Une recherche sur les styles d'apprentissage des élèves apprenant le français Résumé: L'objectif de cette recherche est de constater tout d'abord les styles d'apprentissage des élèves qui apprennent le français en classe de langue au lycée, ensuite, de déterminer la répartition des styles d'apprentissage tels que visuel, auditif et kinesthésique afin d'identifier comment rendre plus efficace le processus d'apprentissage des élèves ayant de différents styles d'apprentissage. Il s'agit également de préciser les méthodes, les techniques et les activités qui peuvent être efficaces dans le processus d'apprentissage et de faire quelques suggestions. Ce travail a été réalisé selon la méthode de recherche par sondage qui est une des techniques de recherche qualitative. Le groupe de travail de cette recherche est constitué de 60 élèves de classe préparatoire au Lycée Vefa. Ce travail a été réalisé en utilisant une échelle de Likert à 4 points. En amont, les données recueillies ont été traitées avec le programme SPSS, les valeurs de la fréquence et de pourcentage ont été présentées sous forme de tableaux. En aval, les données recueillies ont été étudiées en trois catégories telles que visuel, auditif et kinesthésique et quelques suggestions ont été faites à propos de méthodes et de techniques appropriées en prenant en compte les caractéristiques des élèves. Özet: Bu araştırmanın amacı, lise düzeyinde dil sınıflarında Fransızca öğrenen öğrenci-lerin öncelikle öğrenme stillerinin neler olduğunu saptamak, daha sonra, öğrenme stille-rinden görsel, işitsel ve kinestetik alanlara ait dağılımlarını belirlemek, farklı öğrenme stillerine sahip öğrencilerin öğrenmelerinin nasıl daha etkili bir hale getirilebileceğini ve bunlara uygun olarak öğrenmede etkili olabilecek yöntem, teknik ve etkinlikleri saptamak ve önerilerde bulunmaktır. Nicel araştırma tekniklerinden tarama yöntemine göre yapılan bu araştırmanın çalışma grubu Vefa Lisesi'nde hazırlık sınıfında okuyan 60 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Çalışma uzman görüşü alınarak oluşturulan dörtlü likert ölçekli bir anket kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler SPSS Programı kullanılarak işlenmiş, "% değer" ve "f değerleri" (frekans değerleri) tablo şeklinde sunulmuştur. Araştırma sonunda elde edilen bulgular, işitsel, görsel ve kinestetik olmak üzere üç boyutta ele alınmış ve daha sonra ise öğrencilerin sahip oldukları özellikler dikkate alınarak uygun yöntem ve teknikler önerilmiştir. Ünlü eğitim psikoloğu Robert Slavin'in Eğitim Psikolojisi kitabının onuncu baskısı, kuramı uygulamaya aktarma konusunda önemli bir eksikliği gidermekte ve öğretmenlerin sınıfta ihtiyaç duyabilecekleri alanlarda uygulayabilecekleri bilgileri içermektedir.

Kitap, yansıtıcı ve bilinçli bir öğretmenin uygulayabileceği en yeni araştırmaları sunarak, bilinçli öğretmen üzerine odaklanmaktadır. Slavin'e göre bilinçli öğretmen, uygulamasını devamlı surette yansıtan ve bu uygulamaların öğrencileri nasıl etkilediği hakkında net bir düşünceye dayalı olarak öğretim kararları veren kişidir.

Bu kitapta okuyucular alanda önemli ve yeni ortaya çıkan bazı konular ile karşılaşmaktadır. Bu konulardan bazıları; 21. yüzyıl becerileri, ilk yıllarda dil ve okuma yazmanın gelişimi, iki dilli eğitim, nöroloji alanındaki yeni araştırmalar, iş birliğine dayalı öğrenme konusundaki son araştırmalar, okumada sorun yaşayan okuyucular için özel yardım, küçük gruplarla çalışma ve bilişim alanındaki en yeni araştırmalar, gelişmeler ve uygulamalardır. Robert Slavin, akademik derinliğini sergilerken aynı zamanda sanki ders anlatır gibi okuyucuları ile yüz yüze buluşmayı da amaçlamaktadır. Kitap yeni ve farklı bir yaklaşımla pek çok teorik bilgiyi uygulamalı olarak sunan, teorik bilgilerin kavramsal olarak uygulamaya nasıl dönüştürüleceğini göstererek öğretmeyi amaçlayan ve bunda başarılı olduğu açıkça belli olan iyi bir başvuru ve ders kitabı olarak öğrencilere ve eğiticilere önerilmektedir.

Uzmanlar, klinisyenler ve araştırmacılar, yeme bozukluklarının duygusal düzensizliklerden kaynaklandığı vakalarda Diyalektik Davranış Terapisinin etkin olacağı konusunda hemfikirdi. Alanda yapılan pek çok adaptasyon çalışması olmasına rağmen Debra Safer, Christy Telch ve Eunice Chen bunu deneysel bazda yapan ilk kişilerdir. Standart diyalektik davranış terapisinin, tıkanırcasına yeme bozukluğu ve blumia nervoza semptomlarını tedavi etme yollarının yapılandırılmış bir özetini sunan bu kitap ile alandaki ihtiyaca cevap vermişlerdir. Bu alanda çalışan klinik psikologların ve danışmanların mutlaka okuması gereken önemli bir kaynak olmakla birlikte bu alanda okuyan öğrenciler için de farklı bir bakış açısı kazandırmaktadır.
Dokuz bölümden oluşan bu kitapta tedavi kapsamlı olarak ele alınmıştır. Genel çerçevede, olumsuz duygularla başa çıkmanın daha uyumsal yollarını öğreten becerilerin kazanımı ile tıkanırcasına yeme ve boşaltmayı durdurma hedefine ulaşma yolu adım adım çizilmiştir. Blumia nervoza ve tıkanırcasına yeme bozukluğuna sahip insanların karılaştığı sorunlar ve mevcut tedavi yöntemleri ele alınarak okuyucuya genel bir bakış açısı kazandırılır. Standart terapinin detaylı bir şekilde tanıtımından sonra bunun adaptasyonunun neden gerekli olduğu, adapte etmenin mantığı mevcut kanıtlar ile sunulur. Daha sonra, tedavi öncesi ve başlangıç oturumlarından tedaviyi sonlandırmaya kadar olan süreç aşama aşama ele alınır. Nüksetmeyi önleme kısmına değinilir. Son olarak kapsamlı vaka örnekleri ile anlatılanların sağlam temeller üzerine oturması sağlanır.
Amacına uygun şekilde düzenlen bu kitap, diyalektik davranış terapisi adapte edilirken belirli sınırlar çizmek yerine okuyucuya geliştirilebilir bir zemin hazırlar. Bu yönüyle tedaviyi uygulamaya ve geliştirmeye teşvik eder. Açıklayıcı vaka örnekleri ve kanıtlar ile tedaviyi tüm ayrıntılarıyla sunarak farklı alanlardan okuyuculara hitap eden bu titiz çalışma özellikle alandaki uzmanlara klinik psikologlara, danışmanlara ve araştırmacılar için bir rehber niteliğinde olacak niteliktedir.

I have been working as a teacher for 20+ years and I am raising four children. Both as a teacher and as a parent I have soon realised that I one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to raising and teaching children. As obviously true this may seem, as much we disregard our children’s individuality. Standardization is the key word in most schools all over the world and parenting books tell us you have to do it this way or that way in order to make your children turn out right.

The truth is parents and teachers have far less influence on how children turn out. The British geneticist Robert Plomin writes in Blueprint (2020) that parents do matter, but they don’t make a big difference in their child’s personality. Most of our character traits have a genetic inheritance of 50%, leaving 50% to epigenetics and the environment, of which parents and teachers only take a small slice. This means that parents and teachers have much less influence than commonly believed. Often parents and teachers work against a child’s nature despite or because of their best intentions. One common problem for children is that grown-ups tend to try to work on their weaknesses rather than their strengths. Many children thus get the message they are somehow defective or not good enough. Parents and teachers want to prepare their kids for an extroverted and competitive world when the majority of children aren’t programmed for such a world. While some kids are naturally ambitious, assertive and dominant the majority of kids are really much more cooperative.

While I do believe that a lot of our traits are in our genes, I am by no means a genetic determinist. I wouldn’t have written this book. On the contrary, understanding the nature of a child is important for understanding what environment the child needs to flourish. This is true for all children, but in particular for “orchid children” (see Thomas Boyce, 2020), who depending on the soil the grow on might become beautiful flowers or just fade away. According to the central hypothesis of this book, I call these children “hunter-gatherer types”, whereas “farmer-herder type” children are more typically “dandelions”, being able to flourish more easily under adverse circumstances.

The focus of this book is on hunter-gatherer type children, as they are a minority that typically find our school system more difficult to cope with than farmer children. In discussions on the social network Quora people have been pointing out to me again and again that our school system is not made for hunter-gatherer and herder children. Nor do these freedom-loving children take easily to an authoritarian educational style. I will try to make the reasons as clear as possible in this book.

Genelde canlıların, özelde ise insanoğlunun nasıl öğrendiğine dair araştırma sonuçları her geçen gün önümüze heyecan verici bilgiler ve bulgular sunmaktadır. Bu araştırma sonuçları öğrenmede yeni stratejiler geliştirilmesinde öncülük etmektedir. "Öğrenme Psikolojisi" adlı bu kitap, alandaki en temel ve güncel araştırma bulgularını da kapsayarak eğitim, edebiyat ve tıp fakülteleri gibi değişik alanların birçok programında lisans ve lisansüstü düzeyde kullanılabilecek şekilde hazırlanmıştır.
Okuyucu merkezli olarak hazırlanan bu kitap, tüm yaşlardaki öğrenicilerin bilgi ve becerileri nasıl edindiklerini ve öğrenme sürecinde etkili olabilen inanç, motivasyon, tutum ve tavır gibi faktörleri kapsamaktadır.
Öğrenme konusunda bilgi sahibi olmak isteyen okuyucunun, temel bir psikoloji bilgisine sahip olması ön koşulu yoktur. Kitapta öğrenme kuramlarının tarihsel temellerinden başlayarak güncel öğrenme yaklaşımlarına rahatlıkla geçiş yapılabilir. Alandaki bir profesör, öğrenme ile ilgili en son araştırma bulgularına bu kitapta ulaşabilirken; üniversite eğitimine yeni başlamış bir öğrenci de öğrenme ile ilgili en temel konulara rahatlıkla erişebilir.

Objectives: The general objective of this research was to study the learning styles and locus of control of virtual students at Shiraz
University of Medical Sciences and its relationship with their academic attainment.
Methods: This was a descriptive study carried out during year 2017. One hundred virtual learners from Shiraz University of Medical
Sciences were randomly selected as the participants of this study. The instrument used in this study was the Kolb Learning
Style Inventory and Rotter locus of control scale (1996). Kolb Learning Style Inventory consists of 12 questions and four sections.
Vilkaksn measured the reliability of the study by using Alpha, and reported on high reliability (active examination = 0.67, abstract
understanding = 0.83 thinking observation = 0.87, objective experience = 0.82). The stability of Rotter’s questionnaire was reported
by franklin to be more than 82%. The quantitative data were analyzed using person product moment correlation, k2, analysis of
variance (ANOVA), and independent samples t test. The questionnaires were analyzed using version 20 of SPSS software and the
significance level was equal to 0.05.
Results: The results indicated that 80% of the students deployed a convergent style of learning. Also, it was found that there was
no meaningful relationship between learning styles and academic success (P = 0.61). There was no significant relationship between
locus of control and academic achievement (P = 0.51). However, the learners with internal locus of control were older than the ones
with external locus of control (P = 0.04).
Conclusions: Because of the novelty of virtual education in Iran, it demands more research to specify the degree of success gained
by this kind of educational system.

El presente artículo pretende estimular en ejecutantes y docentes la reflexión en torno al potencial impacto de atender a los estilos de aprendizaje en la ejecución y educación musical instrumental. El artículo también sugiere estrategias generales para la mediación docente, en relación con tres estilos de aprendizaje específicos.

The article is a manager's guide to radical change programmes and explains why change is often so difficult to manage successfully. Based on practical experience and supported by relevant theory, it provides a definition of types of change projects and a conceptual framework for managing change before discussing in some detail the barriers to change. The article pays particular attention to the politics and emotions surrounding change. It also provides a discussion of the various ways of resourcing change projects.

This article continues a historical review on the emergence and development of stylometrics which was published in the previous volume of “Structural and Applied Linguistics”. Being founded by Wilhelm Dittenberger, stylometrics expanded its geography in the Prst half of 20th century and enriched its methodological framework and interdisciplinary contacts. In Russia stylometrics appeared due to endeavours by N. A. Morozov. Later, the works by A. A. Chuprov, A. A. Markov, Andrei Bely, as well as the successes of Russian formal school and mathematical achievements of English biometrical school signiPcantly expanded the range of philological problems solved by means of mathematical methods. Later, there emerged new metric disciplines. In particular, artmetrics appeared Prst in the process of searching for culmination in verbal and musical text composition with help of the golden section. And then it was further developed in the search for criteria for measuring text aesthetics.

В первой половине XX века расширилась география стилеметрии, основанной В. Диттенбергером, обогатилась и ее методическая база и междисциплинарные контакты. Стилеметрия пришла в Россию благодаря усилиям Н. А. Морозова. В работах А. А. Чупрова, А. А. Маркова, Андрея Белого, в успехах русской формальной школы, в математических достижениях английской биометрической школы существенно расширился круг филологических проблем, решаемых с помощью математических методов. Появились новые метрические дисциплины, в частности возникла искусствометрия — сначала при поиске кульминации в композиции вербального и музыкального текста с помощью золотого сечения, а затем при поиске критериев измерения эстетичности текста.
