Old age is associated with many changes, viz., physical, psychological, social and economic and age of 75 years or above is considered as autonomous risk factor for poor nutritional and health status. Body composition changes with ageing, fat mass and visceral fat increases, while lean muscle mass decreases. Physical activity goes down, and so does the bone mineral density. The age-related changes affect the food intake and nutritional status of older persons. Consequently, the elderly suffers from malnutrition, which along with co morbidities become life threatening issues. Inadequate nutrient intake and associated consequences in elderly can be effectively counteracted on having thorough understanding of the causes of malnutrition. Poor nutritional status has a multifactorial aetiology. This review examines the physiological risk factors responsible for malnutrition in the older adults. These include poor appetite, cachexia, oral health, micronutrient deficiencies and acute and chronic infections.

An overview is presented of resources and web analytics strategies useful in setting solutions for capturing usage statistics and assessing audiences for open access academic journals. A set of complementary metrics to citations is contemplated to help journal editors and managers to provide evidence of the performance of the journal as a whole, and of each article in particular, in the web environment. The measurements and indicators selected seek to generate added value for editorial management in order to ensure its sustainability. The proposal is based on three areas: counts of visits and downloads, optimization of the website alongside with campaigns to attract visitors, and preparation of a dashboard for strategic evaluation. It is concluded that, from the creation of web performance measurement plans based on the resources and proposals analysed, journals may be in a better position to plan the data-driven web optimization in order to attract authors and readers and to offer the

Tracing graduates has become an imperative for higher education institutions much more during the pandemic. This tracer determined the employment and employability status of the 2019 BSE graduates and identified the competencies they adequately acquired and deemed vital for work. It used descriptive design, and data were collected from the 103 graduates through a Google form with open and closed-ended questions administered between November and December 2020. Results revealed that most of the graduates had been employed in teaching and teaching-related jobs but mostly in contractual arrangements within the first and second six months after graduation. Many had their first jobs with meager salaries from the private sector. Communication, pedagogy, information communication technology, time management, and flexibility were the top competencies they adequately acquired and were beneficial in work. This paper presents an extensive exploration of grid-connected photovoltaic installations in the Sultanate of Oman. It aims at sizing a 5kWp solar power station at Sohar University (SU). It reflects the impact of tilt angle adjustment on the amount of extracted power in the mentioned location. Moreover, the paper presents an approach to match PV modules to the right inverter to avoid unwanted losses. It also presents a techno-financial study for consumers as well as for experts in the field towards the investigation of grid-connected PV installations. The data presented within this paper has been prepared using PVsyst 6.6.3 software tool, which integrates the simulation of a PV system with evaluation of its pre-feasibility, sizing and financial analysis.

Teff [Eragrostis teff (Zucc.) Trotter] is native to Ethiopia. Self-pollinated warm season annual grass with the advantage of C4 photosynthetic pathway and tetraploid 2n=40 plant/crop. Countries like USA, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, South Africa and Kenya produce teff for different purposes such as forage crop, thickener for soups, stews and gravies. The largest production of Teff in the world is from Ethiopia where annually, above 6,562,325 farmers grow Teff on above 2.87 million hectares, which is about 22.95% of the total cultivated land in the country. From the production of the total grain crops teff contributed 16.1 % (4,471,378.7 tons) in the country. Teff can be considered as alternative cereal crop for growers and also beneficial as an additional gluten free source and have higher fibour content for people suffering from coeliac disease and diabetics in the world respectively. Despite of these facts; the productivity of teff is still lower. The cause for the lower yield of teff is lodgidng, method of sowing, use of suboptimum seed rate and fertilizer application. This review demonstrated that higher performance in grain yield, tillering, panicle length and vegetative biomass signaling great yield potential due to row sowing than broadcast and using of optimum seed rate could be recommended for maximum teff grain and straw yield.

The tomato is the one of the most famous crops in Pakistan. It is used and consumed as fresh as well as in processed form. Its botanical name is Solanum lycopersicon Mill. The proposed study had been conducted in the year 2017-2018 in order to find the best combination of water soluble NPK fertilizers as compared to control. Five different types of water soluble fertilizers were collected from different sources and were applied at 5% concentration during the entire growing period of the tomato crop. The experiment was designed using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with five treatments and three replications of each. Different vegetative, reproductive and biochemical parameters were recorded and analyzed statistically at 5% level of significance. The treatments were compared using LSD test. It was concluded that different NPK water soluble fertilizers showed variation in physical and bio chemical parameters in tomato plants as compared to control. The plants showed variation in plant height, No. of fruit per plant, fruit yield per hectare, Individual fruit weight, fruit weight per plant, No. of diseased fruit per plant, date of first harvest, Fruit color Fruit length (cm), fruit size (cm), fruit firmness, total NPK contents, vitamincmg Chlorophyll concentration, pH, (TSS), Electricity conductivity (EC) and Titratable acidity Among all the water soluble treatments, the T3 treatment (WSF 20:20:20) yielded the comparatively better results as compared to other WSF treatments. So it was concluded that T3 was the recommended water soluble fertilizer for tomato.

Along with the increasing use of the Internet, scholarly publishing was affected by the rise of 'predatory journals'. Many authors attribute the success of these journals to the open access provided to potential readers. While many authors have attempted to propose criteria for identifying predatory journals, very little research was directed to explaining their success, and underlying strategies. This study uses a biological sciences perspective, based on the five stages of predation, and examines the strategies accordingly. The results indicate that predatory journals use the same strategies as all Internet-based scams in identifying their prey. The largest number of strategies addresses approaching the authors. The recent trends include personalized call for papers, use of fake metrics, hijacking reputed journals, faking location and editorial structure, addressing a broad range of topics and providing fast services (at the expense of quality). In addition to these strategies, publishing fees are often hidden. In summary, the pressure to publish and metrics-based career advancement procedures are the main attractors driving authors to predatory journals, despite the efforts of scientists and Internet-based means of identifying these journals and publicizing their dishonest practices.

Il progetto, che utilizza il software CDS/ISIS con l’applicativo CODEX specificamente studiato, interessa tutte le biblioteche della Toscana, eccetto le seguenti biblioteche statali: a Firenze le biblioteche Marucelliana, Medicea Laurenziana, Nazionale Centrale, Riccardiana; a Pisa la Biblioteca Universitaria. Oltre alle biblioteche sono censite tutte le possibili sedi di conservazione: archivi statali e comunali, biblioteche e archivi capitolari, monasteri, conventi, chiese, seminari vescovili, accademie e analoghe istituzioni culturali, musei. Universal access to information and knowledge lies UNESCO's overall mandate to promote the free flow of information by word and by image and thus to place information and knowledge at the doorsteps of communities. UNESCO strives to forge an enabling environment to facilitate and open up avenues for universal access to information and knowledge. Open Access to information and knowledge is an innovative mode of scholarly communication within the digital environment aimed at achievement of universal access to information and knowledge. While Open Access helps digital inclusion of citizens in developing countries by bringing within easy reach full-text contents of scholarly works, documentary heritage collections and development-related literature, the Digital Library remains a knowledge repository of such citizens, indigenous people, communities and institutions. Open Access to knowledge is a model adopted by many international and intergovernmental fora, such as the World Summit on the information Society (WSIS), for disseminating full-text contents to online communities. The South Asia sub-region is now in the forefront of the Open Access movement within developing countries in the world, with India being the most prominent partner in terms of its successful Open Access and Digital Library initiatives. Institutional and policy frameworks in India also facilitate innovative solutions for increasing international visibility and accessibility of scholarly literature and documentary heritage in this country. This publication has its genesis in the recommendations and proceedings of UNESCO-supported th international conferences and workshops including the 4 International Conference of Asian Digital Libraries (ICADL2001, Bangalore); the International Conferences on Digital Libraries (ICDL2004 & ICDL2006, New Delhi); and the International Workshop on Greenstone Digital Library software (2006, Kozhikode), where many information professionals of this sub-region demonstrated their Digital Library and Open Access Initiatives. It discusses successful activities in the South Asia subregion bringing closer to the worldwide audience, the subject of access to scholarly literature and documentary heritage. This may thus be considered an authoritative source-book on Open Access Development in this sub-region.

Climate changes, storage of water, rising in atmospheric temperature and other environmental stresses have harmful effects on the plant growth and productivity. Also they negatively influence the morpho-physiology of plants, as plant physiology is heavily affected by temperature fluctuations. Understanding the stress-resistance processes in plants has appeared as a very important issue in order to develop stress-resistant plants. So, the aim of this study was to evaluate the change in the physiological responses and chemical composition of Retama raetam in response to the environmental conditions. Retama raetam was collected from Wadi Sudr at South Sinai and Hammam Cleopatra region at Mersa Matruh in dry and wet seasons. The results of this study indicate that there was a significant difference between habitats in the contents of minerals, carbohydrates, soluble sugars and alkaloids. The deficiency of water and stress conditions in the dry season, induced a reduction in osmotic potential at both habitats, which was accompanied by the accumulation of osmolytes or osmoprotectants; such as inorganic ions (Ca2+, mg2+, K+), carbohydrates, soluble sugars and organic acids (oxalic, citric, malic) considered as a protective metabolic adaptation that could exert beneficial effects upon drought tolerance of Retama reteam. Meanwhile, the content of total alkaloids in Retama raetam was significantly affected by habitats and/or seasons, as its values were significantly increased in dry season to 6.2mg/g at Wadi Sudr and 6.5mg/g at Cleopatra. These results revealed that the chemical composition of the plants was significantly affected by seasons and environmental conditions, which may have a negative effect due to the accumulation of some toxic compounds under stress condition, like alkaloids.

This article investigates perceptions and use of Open Access journals (OAJs) by master's degree students in two universities in the southwestern part of Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was used in the study and the study population was comprised of 7,423 master's degree students in the University of Ibadan and 1,867 from Obafemi Awolowo University. A multistage random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 249 and the data collection instrument was a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages , mean, standard deviation, correlation, and regression analyses. The findings revealed that OAJs were used for learning, dissertation writing, personal research, and development. OAJs were not frequently used because of download delays, unavailability of Internet facilities, and limited access to computers terminals, among other issues. OAJs were found to be of relative advantage, positively perceived, and found to be compatible with existing values and quality assurance in scholarly publications, hence their use for academic activities. The regression analyses showed that there was a significant positive relationship between positive perception, perception of relative advantage, perception of compatibility, perception complexity, and master's degree students' use of OAJs. Negative perception was found to have a significant negative correlation with the use of OAJs. This article recommends that quality assurance of OAJs should be ensured in order to boost users' positive perceptions to increase their patronage and usage of these scholarly outlets for various academic activities, which will in turn encourage research and development across the various institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.

Various initiatives are taken globally to make knowledge repositories more accessible to researchers by exploiting the internet platform and developing a model that allows free access. India is also actively participating in this new initiative. Open access to scientific knowledge is an integral part of India’s S&T policy intervention. Some of the major international and Indian national initiatives are highlighted. Further efforts that would be required to make Indian participation more fruitful are also brought out.

Plant milk was obtained from cashew seeds and locally prepared soy milk kept as reference standard. The prepared milk samples were analyzed against proximate, minerals and sensory attribute, while sensory evaluation was done according to difference and preference test. Cashew milk sample had an attributes white in color and 81.7% milk yield. Cashew milk was significantly higher in fiber and ash contents. Cashew milk also consist significantly higher amounts of potassium (68.1mg/100ml), calcium (21.9mg/100ml), magnesium (38.2mg/100ml), zinc (0.85mg/100ml) and iron (0.8mg/100ml). Sensory evaluation results show significant differences for both milk samples. Cashew milk (1.91) and soymilk (2.08) were indicate non-significant difference (p>0.05) in mouth feel. Cashew milk was highly significant (p<0.05) for other sensory attributes. Cashew milk is nutrient dense as compare to soy and dairy milks with low calories. Nutritional benefits of cashew milk promoting cardiovascular health and reduce the deficiencies of trace mineral such as, zinc and iron.

This review presents a brief trend in Minna Municipal solid Waste (MSW) management. Municipal solid waste is a major environmental problem in Minna as in many developing towns. Although strict regulations on the management of solid waste are in place, primitive disposal methods such as open dumping and discharge into surface water are still being used in various parts of the town. The review also presents the MSW management structure together with the present situation of generation composition, collection, disposal and treatment. It also provides a brief discussion on the future challenges. Waste generation increases by more than 200% within two decades and increase in budgetary allocation is not proportional to the waste generation increase. The waste management agency did not have enough resources to tackle the ever increasing Municipal Solid Waste. The collection process is deficient in terms of manpower and vehicle availability. Bin capacity provided is inadequate and their locations were found to be inappropriate, thus contributing to the inefficiency of the system. At this time, no treatment is provided to the waste after collection. Under- estimation of waste generation rates and inadequate management and technical skills were also responsible for inappropriate waste management system in the town. This study is to investigate the aspects of the autecology of Calligonum comosum plant. This plant species is one of the famous pastoral plant characterizing the habitat of Saudi Arabia. The C. comosum plant is belonging to the botanical family polygonaceae, plant is frequently used as sources of medicine by rural people. The study site was located in the northeast of Riyadh city, in " Dahna " area. The results showed that C. comosum is dominant plant in the area, 23 plant species were recorded in the study site, belonging to 16 families, they contain 11 perennial types and 12 annuals types, and the C. comosum is important companion plant. C. comosum is perennial shrubs, branched from the base to height of 100 to 200 cm. The fruits are spherical shape with a thick and long hair its color from yellow to red, this plant is characterized by pure pungent smell and excessive rigidity because it is config.d solid wood. The life cycle of C. comosum is regular for perennial plants, started grow from the seeds after the seasonal rains during November, the flowers and composition of fruits started at March, the production cycle of this plant is about 4 months. The electrical conductivity (EC) of the soil was ranged from 6.4 to 6.7 dS m-1 and , the concentration of SO4 and Fe relatively high. This paper presents results of the research of students at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) in Zagreb, Croatia and their use of digital information resources. The results indicate tendency toward selection of digital information resources for use in their education; the maturity in assessing quality of these digital information resources and the maturity in distinguishing the good and the bad sides of digital information resources including open access information resources. The results could be integrated into the process of selection of reading materials for the courses at the FHSS, now that students' preferences are more clearly identified.

ABSTRACT: India has been a cradle of knowledge for thousands of years. Presently it has significant advantages in the 21st century knowledge race due to one of the largest higher education system in the world. It generates a lot of information in the form of research papers, project reports, books, conference papers, theses, dissertations, articles, and so on. Therefore, it is necessary to preserve, manage and make it accessible to the academic community and society for sharing and visualizing their innovations for the betterment of society as a whole. The present study attempts to evaluate the initiatives taken by India to make this intellectual output accessible for all by publishing them in Open Access resources like Open Access journals and archiving them in Open Access archives or repositories. The results revealed that India is continuously contributing in Open Access literature as some of the premier institutions, particularly in the science and technology area, are providing Open Access to their research publications. The position of India in terms of number of journals in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is 7th, well ahead of countries such as China, Australia, and Japan and is sharing 10th position with the Sweden and Spain in Directory of Open Access Repositories (OpenDOAR) in terms of number of repositories in the world.

With the advancement in the manufacturing industry of the food additive and supplements coupled with ever-increasing challenges in the health risk hazards, the establishment of strict control measures become essential to ensure product quality and safety. A small firm for manufacturing of food supplements and additives established a production line for a new product based on L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) 500mg per hard gelatine capsule. Ascorbic Acid is provided as sustained release pellets. One of the important quality control tests that should be inspected was the dissolution profile after one, four and eight hours. Dissolution rate test was performed for 70 consecutive batches and results were interpreted. The best-fitting model that described the dissolution rate was Morgan-Mercer-Flodin (MMF) Model which is Sigmoidal four parameter mathematical curve.

Purpose – The present study aims at determining the most accredited free English electronic journals
(EJs) in Medical Sciences, as finding free scholarly EJs including medical ones is difficult on the web
environment.
Design/methodology/approach – The research population consisted of 700 free EJs of Medical
Sciences, which were collected from two reputable websites, namely, Directory of Open Access Journals
and Free Medical Journals. After first screening, 269 free EJs including 76 journals in health, 4 journals
in nursing, 175 journals in medicine and 14 free EJs in dentistry remained for final investigation […].
Findings – The most accredited journals in four medical disciplines studied here are health: New
South Wales Public Health Bulletin, PLoS Biology and Environmental Health Perspectives – National
Institute of Environmental Health Sciences; nursing: Online Journal of Rural Nursing and Health Care
and Online Journal of Nursing Informatics […].
Originality/value – This research can be treated as an addition to the webometrics literature.

The Delhi Declaration on Open Access, pronounced on 14th February 2018, becomes another instance of solidarity of the researchers in Global South in making open access (OA) to scholarly literature a popular choice in the dissemination of the scientific research. The Open Access India (OAI), an open access advocacy group, was the main architect behind this Declaration. The Declaration had over 120 signatories from India and other countries in the Global South within first two weeks of its pronouncement.  This declaration is supported by the Knowledge Societies Division of UNESCO; IFLA RSCAO; Forum for Open Access in SAARC, etc. The signatories are not limited to the information professionals, journal editors, and research funders, but also the committed academic researchers who use and promote open access resources. The Declaration also marked the sixteenth anniversary of Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), which is considered as the starting point in the shaping of the global open access movement. On the 15th anniversary of BOAI, the AgriXiv, a preprint self-archiving portal for agriculture and allied sciences was launched as an Open Access India’s community initiative.

Состояние информационно-аналитического обеспечения научной деятельности ученых в условиях библиотек Беларуси Статья посвящена анализу состояния информационно-аналитического обеспечения научной деятельности ученых в условиях библиотек Республики Беларусь. Дана общая оценка процесса информационно-аналитического обеспечения науки. Выделены основные направления информационно-аналитического обеспечения научной деятельности: создание и сопровождение репозиториев открытого доступа, реализация модели библиотеки как издателя электронных научных журналов, проведение информетрических (библиометрических, наукоме-трических, вебометрических и альтметрических) исследований, имеющих целью определение научной (публикационной) активности ученых, практика повышения вебометрического рейтинга и информационная аналитика как инструментарий для подготовки компетентных ответов на нетиповые запросы пользователей, занимающихся научно-исследовательской деятельностью.

Tomato is second most important vegetable, having nutritional and aesthetic value. Due to high temperature and lack of proper storage facility most of the produce is wasted. This loss can be reduced by increasing shelf life of tomato, so that produce can be stored for long time. In the present investigation alcobacca, a ripening mutant of tomato has been crossed with tomato variety, Vaibhav. To dissect trait genetics, Genetic variability, Correlation and path coefficient analysis were conducted in the F6 recombinant inbred population developed from alc x Vaibhav by single seed descent method. Highest shelf life of 85 days was observed with a mean of 51 days for RILs. Shelf life was significantly and positively associated with fruits per cluster (0.13@5%), fruit firmness (0.23 @ 1%, 5%), total soluble solutes (0.15@1%,5%), lycopene content (0.12@5%), yield per plant (0.30@1%,5%) and number of fruits per plant (0.38@1%,5%).
