Operational Washdown and Agricultural Inspection
Timely new military agricultural washdown / biosecurity video emphasizing preparing and cleaning conveyances, shipping containers and equipment for operational washdowns and agricultural inspections. This required process minimizes the inadvertent transfer of contaminated soil, invasive organisms and biomaterial commonly found on deployed and redeployed equipment from being transferred back to the US or abroad where these organisms commonly destroy economies, agriculture, infrastructure, human health and safety, culture and have severe mission impacts. The 20 minute video was produced by the Navy Entomology Center of Excellence (NECE) with most of the content applicable to all services.

Asian Longhorned Tick
In 2017, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) confirmed the presence of the Asian longhorned tick (Haemaphysalis longicornis). It probably arrived in the United States in or before 2010. Exactly how or when is unknown, but one thing is certain: it may have entered on domestic pets, horses, livestock or people.

Post-Hurricane Disease Vector and Pest Awareness Bulletin
Excessive rain events are often followed by large numbers of host-seeking mosquitoes. This can increase the chance of exposure to mosquito-borne diseases and secondary infections that may occur as a result of mosquito bites. Mosquitoes can transmit West Nile virus and Zika virus, among other diseases. In addition, storm-related power outages are common after hurricanes, and can exacerbate mosquito and other pest problems.
