Undersea Atrophia Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 24 ratings

A great silence has settled upon a drowned world. In the final battle of their final war, the massive citysubs Universalis and Population reduced each other to ruins. One lays wrecked on the seafloor. The other, beached and lifeless, litters the island of pristine polar ice it tried to destroy.

Pockets of survivors huddle together. On the frigid surface, Ralla Gattley and Thom Vargas cling to life and each other. Below, the soldier Geran Lo fights relentlessly to free trapped and drowning civilians.

As they struggle against a world determined to kill them, a new and even more dangerous menace approaches.

Undersea Atrophia is the second book in the Undersea Saga.

Pretty good read, isn't the best but certainly not the worst. In comparison to the previous novel, this one takes a darker turn detailing the aftermath of the climax battle of the previous book. I'm curious to see if we'll get a third novel.

Nuanced, engaging, thrilling. A refreshingly un-cookie cutter adventure featuring well-developed characters in a vibrantly-rendered world. This isn't a sunny, happy-go-lucky chapter, however; I think there's tragedy and heartbreak on the horizon and I can't wait to read the next book.

Well I really went back and forth on whether to give 2 or 3 stars to this book and finally decided on 3 due to it being well written. My main problem (spoilers) is the absolute depressing nature of the whole story. There wasn't just one negative thing going on. Instead bad thing after bad thing happened and by the end of the book there's basically no hope for the human race after it's done it's best to survive for the last 100 years. It almost felt like the author decided to test to destruction the whole world he'd created.
