On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal

About this ebook
An instant bestseller, On Fire shows Klein at her most prophetic and philosophical, investigating the climate crisis not only as a profound political challenge but also as a spiritual and imaginative one. Delving into topics ranging from the clash between ecological time and our culture of “perpetual now,” to the soaring history of humans changing and evolving rapidly in the face of grave threats, to rising white supremacy and fortressed borders as a form of “climate barbarism,” this is a rousing call to action for a planet on the brink.
An expansive, far-ranging exploration that sees the battle for a greener world as indistinguishable from the fight for our lives, On Fire captures the burning urgency of the climate crisis, as well as the fiery energy of a rising political movement demanding a catalytic Green New Deal.
“Naomi Klein’s work has always moved and guided me. She is the great chronicler of our age of climate emergency, an inspirer of generations.” —Greta Thunberg, climate activist
"If I were a rich man, I’d buy 245 million copies of Naomi Klein’s 'On Fire' and hand-deliver them to every eligible voter in America…Klein is a skilled writer." —Jeff Goodell, The New York Times
Editor's Note
Editor’s pick…
Naomi Klein’s “On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal” is, as you might’ve guessed, a polemic against the direly inadequate global response to the climate crisis. As talk of the Green New Deal becomes de rigueur in progressive circles and Greta Thunberg leads a new generation in the climate fight, it seems as though a sea change is finally afoot.

1/5Far Left Eco Communist garbage propaganda. The biggest scam in world history. The Earth's climate has been changing for billions of years and will continue to do so. It has nothing to do with fossil fuels, human activity, agriculture or cow gas. The Left and its minions in the media and tech are using this scam of "climate scare" to steal more power, wealth and control. Don't fall for it. This book is propaganda by a Far Left propagandist.

5/5The thing that I admire most about Naomi Klein is that she writes incredibly clearly. One may agree, or disagree with her beliefs, but one is never in doubt as to what they are.She puts the case for social change to be an essential part of the Green New Deal and, I get it, at last. This book should be on everybody's read list - even better, were it to be on their 'I have read' list.

1/5Unscientific. Pure political propaganda. Klein is an ideologist, not an authentic journalist.

5/5A fantastic collection of some of Klein’s best essays about the urgency of climate action, the power of the collective, the history of environmental racism and justice, and how to stay human in the face of such a bleak fight.
